I recently gave blood and had my levels checked. My numbers weren't high, but did seem a bit higher personally. When VG metabolizes, it breaks down into glucose. When PG metabolizes, it breaks down into lactic acid (via Riptrippers). So people who vape, diabetics more so, and see a spike in levels, it could very well be the VG in juices that affects your sugar levels.

How much do you vape?
5 ml of pure VG is what 25 calories...

Say we actually absorb 25% of what we inhale...so 8 calories per 5 ml vaped...1.6 calories per ml consumed over a few hours...

Much ado about nothing...

I'm not purposefully doubting your science but according to my scientist at hand (she's interested in Vaping vs. Smoking) VG doesn't metabolize into something called A.G.E-Ps which are what people need to worry about. Apparently, smoking 'elevates' A.G.E-Ps so Vaping is better.

I don't know. Have you run some searches? Vaping and diabetes?

Pg metabolizing into lactic acid could make us high-PG users more attractive to mosquitoes; that's what they're drawn to -- notice how when you first go outside, no mosquitoes; but stay out there and do some work and get sweaty, mosquitoes will LOOOOOOOOOOOVE you -- lactic acid is what builds up in your muscles when you're running, for instance.

Calories are not the primary concern for diabetics and pre-diabetics.

I remember this topic from shortly after I started vaping, and since I have a strong family history of type 2 and have issues with glucose levels when I'm heavier than I'd like to be, I paid attention. It's one of the reasons I try to stay at least 50/50 with my niquids (the other being I don't enjoy the heavy-lung feeling higher vg causes in me.)

Did you research much @curiousJan ?
Draw any conclusions ?

I don't mind the 'thought' being out there... it still seems safer than the effects of smoking (for the diabetic). My Dad smokes and is diabetic, so it's not like I'm going to close my mind to this as it could affect me, in the future.

Thanks Jan,

Just to be more clear.
The dose makes the poison.
We are talking about less then a tablespoon per day for an average vaper.
From what I have found...
Vaping will NOT have an observable effect on blood glucose levels.
Mostly because the VG has a low GI, but also because sugar alcohols are processed differently by the body.

As always, please consult a medical professional for more qualified advice.

I did ... back then. Honestly, since I reacted badly to higher VG mixes, I don't remember much of what I found. Sorry.

I completely agree that it's better than smoking.

I remember a handful of vapers stating their personal experience of it impacting their sugar levels.

Thanks for the suggestion ... I don't put much faith into unsolicited medical advice from random strangers on the internet, ever.

Well, I have a pretty easy fix for it: NEVER GO OUTSIDE!!! I don't have to loiter on the front porch anymore!!! We used to spend a bloody fortune on those mosquito coils every spring./summer/fall. Not anymore!!! :D

I'm glad I found this thread, and hopefully I can share some information with everyone.

I have type 2,and when I started vaping, I kept a very close eye on my glucose levels. I tested 5x a day for a whole month to see what affect (if any) vaping had. I can say for me at least, vaping had practically NO impact on my glucose levels. If there was an increase, it was 3-10 points at most.

Even after switching to sub ohm setups, I still haven't noticed any rise in my glucose levels.

If be happy to share the spreadsheet with anyone interested.
