I chased him off after I made the video I am not to comfortable having a bear that big hanging around the yard . Actually Its not that common I have every other critter you could imagine but rare to see a bear in the yard .

I guess I'm just a city girl, I am still traumatized over the skunk incident in our yard 8 years ago! but the bear is very interesting in YOUR yard lol

Wow. That's pretty cool. We have deer come up into the yard sometimes, and always LOTS of critters like squirrels, rabbits, raccoons, and possums. No bear.

Wow. I get coyotes in my neighborhood fairly often. Deer, possums by the truckload, raccoon, no bears.

I've had bears in my yard 3 times that I know of but have never seen them. Twice the bear ripped limbs down from my one lone apple tree and the other time it ran off with a bag of garbage. Had a blond bear hanging around here a couple years back--almost the color of a yellow lab that I wish I could have seen more closely but it disappeared.
I really like bears but you did the right thing. If they start feeling at home in your yard, they get spoiled and then you may have to take extreme measures. They're good neighbors but you don't want them living with you.

Wow I stayed in a house one time in the hills of Lake Tahoe --the first thing you had to do when you got there was read the "what to do if you see a bear" book, lol. Had pictures of bears in the driveway and on the decks. Gorgeous decks where you could see the lake, but I was always a lil fearful to be outside!! How did you shoo it away?

Very carefully I just yelled and smacked the walk way with a chunk of purple heart . He came back a couple times every time he came back I chased him off . I did stay close to the door

You can usually smell them before you see them they stink we have a lot of them around here. There are a lot of kids summer camps in our area and there a real problem.

Yep. The bears are awake up here in the mountains of NC, too. Ours are not so polite, though. They just rip the bird feeders down and mangle them. Neighbors have "bear-proof" trashcans that have been beaten up pretty badly and that always makes me laugh.
DH had to dodge a big pile of bear scat on his walk to work today. I love Spring.

That bear is cool. I've never seen one in the wild. But there has been a pretty large wood pecker pecking at the Metal GUTTER on my house every morning the last couple of weeks. Talk about loud - sounds like bursts from a small caliber automatic weapon. I've tried to photo him but he dips out before I can click a pic
