What you said is what I am looking for. a 18mg nicotine, but with much less of a throat hit than what I am getting now. I think I am going to do what you are. 18 mg 100% vg
For less of a throat hit at the same nic, go more VG, less PG. But you may want to try a 50/50 mix before 100% VG.
I never cared much for throat hit even as a smoker. I liked a "smooth" smoke thing. I use 100% VG here and there but it does seem to mute the flavor and can clog my coil heads. Not end of the world clogging but enough to get irritating. Have to clean the things up and dry burn more frequently.
I ended up "splitting the difference" and it's working out pretty good.
Also, nothing says you have to have one and only one nic level. I have a few flavors I really, really like and vape a lot of. So I cut them to 9mg (started with an 18mg base so the math was easy

). But, also, keep 12 to 18 around for times like the mornings. You know, that "first cig of the day" thing. Smokers do that because they went all night without a "hit" of nicotine so they crave one soon as they wake up. So I use higher nic to bring my nic up then cut back to "coasting" level. Vaping at around 6 to 9 right now and if there's a "throat hit", I can't tell. It is, however, honeysuckle. Me likey. Very much.
