Another ? Why does my unflavored 50/50 with 18mg of nic taste peppery?

Altho some nics have more pepper, it may be more that you're just used to flavors covering it up. If you get to drop down to 12mg like many here you'll notice it much less. You could always do a bit more VG as PG really tends to carry that peppery taste.

    And, Hi :)

I actually like the peppery bite, but my main flavor is mostly-menthol with some cinnamon and just a tiny note of milk chocolate to smooth it out a bit. I'm all about the flavor biting me. I'm a bit disappointed since falling to 1 mg/ml nicotine as the bite is really pretty much gone from the nicotine.

In addition to using higher VG, some flavoring also influence pepper. Sweet tends to smooth it out, the softer mints (like spearmint) will cover it over and mute it. Sharp flavors like peppermint or menthol enhance the bite, and the pepper also helps set off the mint/menthol flavor as well. Heavy pepper will interact badly with bakery flavors, I've found...but some people actually like that.

Really, a lot of flavors interact with each other...that's a lot of the fun (and complexity) of DIY.

When designing a flavor, realize that the pepper may be there (depending on the nic you choose; Wizard Labs' seems very smooth, My Freedom Smokes has a bit of a bite). And work with it, integrating it as a flavor note in your mix.

(Also design flavors in small amounts at first as sometimes the mix sounded great in your head, but...) :)

If you stick with that, you will be deep into the peppermint flavorings. I'm be extremely surprised if you noticed much peppery overtone from the nicotine given the flavor of the peppermint.

I found that my tastes changed a bit as my sense of smell and taste returned. Flavoring got lighter and gentler as I went along. One cousin's flavor choices got denser and more complicated as he went. It drove his wife insane as she couldn't stand the bakery scents.

    Wait. :)

I went through the fruit stage, but it only lasted about a month for me. My cousin, five months. My mother never did and stuck with the mint flavors throughout.
I really like the soft mints dont care for the harsh ones and so far the fruits I have tried taste like kool aid maybe soon i will try new ones! :)
