Video only shows in 2 of the standard styles (blackend and blackend red)

Wanted to let you know I made a post that had a video and the video will only show for the blackend and blackend red styles does not display in other styles.

I noticed a while back that some people couldn't see videos I posted when the shortened links were used to hotlink them (like in Ashes' original post above). I had just assumed it was due to the devices they were using to view the forum, but perhaps it also applies to certain skins as well? Using the long link when I posted videos made them visible in those cases, though (the ones formatted like the one in tibs' second post), so I have continued to use the long links ever since and haven't heard any further comments

Thanks for the replies. I will use long links going forward, but yeah strange that shortened links work in some skins.

the old skins work a little differently than the new skins. Some of the features they have are no longer supported by vBulletin and they have some legacy code that allows certain things that won't work in the new skins without major alterations which may or may not continue working as vBulletin evolves.

The best advice I can give is to use the long links as was stated earlier in the thread (I have always used the long links so I had never seen this problem before).

I'll try to go in and edit the video linking instructions so that the dialog box reminds folks to use the long link for youtube videos.

fyi - the problem with short links from youtube has existed since way before your time as forum manager, sarge! and i was using kirsch then ....

recently youtube stopped offering a choice of links

yup - just as i remembered - ran into that problem a week or two ago and had to copy the link right from the address bar to get it to work
