Picked up two from madvapes a couple days ago. So far I love them; I find they leak much less than standard clearos. However, I don't have a clue how to clean them. My standard clearos, I powerflush, disassemble, and dry burn. I don't think I can do that with these. Help!

I run mine under hot water then shake out, repeat a few times then either let dry overnight
or dry burn. You can also take them apart to clean.

This might also help you http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...tvapes-stardust-how-re-wick-replace-coil.html

YourFired I am thrilled you have been lucky enough to have been able to use yours so long! I got 5 of these about 5-6 weeks ago. Four out of the five have pooped out all within a week of use. I am very disappointed in these to say the least. I have not had a problem with them leaking they just quit working all of a sudden!!!! I don't know what the heck the issue is!

I really liked vaping with them but at the cost of the darn things I am not buying more to use them a week then them go kapoot! I am vaping 100% VG and thought that the thickness of the liquid might be an issue but not sure about that. I am at a loss here. I am so disappointed in the quality of this product that it is not funny. I realize that all equipment is not going to function as we would like it to but come on.

I tried contacting the vendor but I did not even get a reply when asking if there was anything I could do to maybe try to revive my units so I guess they are ready for the trash heap. Now I am looking into something else to try as I really want a unit that holds a large amount of liquid. I hate it because I liked vaping these to some extent.

Starchild, I haven't been using the stardusts exclusively for the last five weeks. I've also been using various carto tanks, and more recently, mega dual coil cartos. Who knows, if I did use the four exclusively, they may have pooped out by now. I honestly don't know how long they're supposed to last.

A couple of my stardusts already have small cracking around the base and if it sits for awhile, some dampness starts to form around it, but nothing considerable.

Over all though, the stardusts have been trouble free and easy to use/ maintain. I like 'em, and for the price of a pack of cigs, I don't mind if it only lasts a week. I've actually been finding my stardusts on sale for like $3.50 each here and there. I still have two more that I haven't opened yet.

The thicker, 100% VG juice that you use in your stardusts could be pooping them out prematurely, but I don't know for sure. You could ask some of the vets around here. Good luck......

I loved them at first....now I'm not so enthused. I have rinsed them in OMFG hot tap water (not boiling, but hot enough to burn the prints off my fingers...lol). They work after cleaning, but never work anywhere near as new. I am not popping the plastic tank off...I'm sure it would break or something. I really feel sketchy about using Isopropyl alcohol (not something I want to vape...even after a dry burn). I have not yet bought vodka to try getting a better clean...but so far, I'm not impressed with them after I clean them. I am moving to tanks, but I'd really like to have these as backups...

I've been using LR and STD Vision clearomizers for a few months, rotating flavors and batts trying to find my perfect VAPE. I use mainly 90%-100% VG liquids. After a couple days the clearo does get clogged and the draw gets hard to do. So, I soak them in vodka for about an hour. Then rinse in very hot distilled water. Shake/blow out the excess then do a dry burn. There are a few good vids on you tube, but I don't take the innards out like some videos suggest. Just do the rinse and dry burn till you see the "glow" and they are like new, vaping strong! It's been working for me for months! I have broken a few collars? off by carelessness, but for the most part I get several months use out of each! (I chain vape and use them hard LOL)
Try it! Good luck! :vapor:

Quick question on this. I'm going to give the vodka a try in my cleaning process, as I've just been rinsing with water & doing the dry burn to date, and its not completely effective. I just set some vodka out in a bowl, because I keep it in the freezer. Any issue with putting them in vodka while its cold? Or should I let it get all the way back up to room temp before i soak the Stardusts in it?

I never tried it with cold vodka, but I'm thinking the warmer the better. . . I rinse with very hot distilled water too. (My tap water is hard with lots of minerals that leave white deposits around the sink and ruin coffee pots in a short time, etc. so I don't want to leave any residue in my clearos that could clog them up.) Not sure if I'm saving much money since vodka costs a lot more than isopropyl [I tried the isopropyl alcohol soak because it's cheaper, as someone suggested, but I don't think I'll do that anymore and stick to vodka because the isopropyl smell lingered even after rinsing] :(

I did the vodka cleaning the other night (after the vodka wasn't cold anymore), and what a difference!! I'd highly suggest thatmethod of cleaning if others haven't tried it. Previously I was just rinsing really good with hot water, but the taste and performance was never quite perfect again. (and I typically use higher VG juices that are fairly dark) This time around, they are working like new after I cleaned with the vodka. Here is what I did in case anyone is interested:

Empty any remaining juice
Remove mouthpiece & silicone cap
rinse with very warm/hot water several times
soak in vodka for a couple hours
gave them another quick rinse
dry burn
rinse quickly again
Let them dry completely & enjoy!!

Pretty much what I do, but without the long vodka soak.
The points I do differently however is just a quick rinse through first with water, then do the dry burn. I save a quick vodka rinse for after the dry burn, and give it a good rinse through with water at that point. It can help if you've slightly overdone the dry burn and left a bit of a burnt taste on the wick.
I finish by drying the wick with my wife's hair dryer. I do a batch all at once and it rarely takes more than 15 minutes from start to finish.
They're perfect and ready to vape right away.

With the new rebuildable version, I rinse, dry burn, then usually just thread some new wick through the original coil.

Where do you get "new wick" and may I ask if taking apart the clearomizer to do this doesn't weaken the struction causing leakage? I saw the youtube vids where people take apart their clearos to clean them, but I'm thinking that would make them start leaking. Any problems with that? Thanks!

It's only the new rebuildable version that's easy to re-wick (and re-coil too). I've had a go with the original ones, but ended up bending the metal base out of shape and cracking the tube. Personally I stick with the cleaning method above for the originals. I've a bunch that I've cleaned around 7 times each so far and they're still going strong.
I don't think I'll be buying the older version anymore though. The rebuildables are so much better and you can just change the heads when the performance starts to drop - if you don't want to clean/dry burn or rebuild.
The place I get my wick from is here:
DIY mixing pack
Although, obviously it's a UK site. It's good wick though. Really sucks up the juice.
