What's the point upgrading from my Vision to an eleaf Istick? I already have to run my bottom coil tank and vivi nova mini on the lowest voltage setting on my vision spinner or it tastes burnt, so it doesn't seem like power is the reason to upgrade?

I upgraded from the Vision Spinner II to a Vaporshark DNA30; and what I could tell you from my experience is that Variable voltage is quite a manual task when it comes to Cartomizers and Clearomizers. The wattage adjustment gives you an independent variable with a lot more control range, which in turn would set the appropriate voltage necessary based on the current resistance on your coil.

By current, I mean at this moment in time and not in the circuit context, as the resistance of any coil goes up when there's gunk buildup or just structural degradation of the wire itself. I used a Nautilus mini on my spinner, and although I was getting a lot of the notorious gurgling, I was still experiencing dry hits at times. Immediately after playing with the settings of my VSDNA, I was able to not only get a much more dense, hot vape; but the gurgling was gone, and so were the dry hits.

Although the iStick is not a true DNA, and may suffer from slight accuracy issues (in lieu of RMS); the ability to actively control voltage through wattage makes your experience a LOT more consistent than just being able to bottleneck your battery's voltage at will.

In my opinion, the iStick is more than likely a fantastic upgrade in all aspects from a Spinner mod as it will let you know when it's time to clean your coil, and when resistance increases faster over time; when to replace your heads.

The vs series is a bit pricey, but all things considered it's very difficult to find a better use for 40 dollars on a controlled mod than on an eLeaf iStick.

Oooh.... what a post! :)

In your case... No, there is no point.

If, however, you decide to get different/better/larger/smaller tanks that can work above 3.3v then you might enjoy the benefits.

In truth, if you are getting a burnt taste at 3.3v you have more to worry about than which battery. You either have a faulty Spinner or absolutely dreadful tanks.

As a sidenote to my earlier post, Djs & Ginny have a great point. Not sure which bottom coil tank you have, but you should absolutely look into upgrading your tanks at some point. If anything, this could totally be coming from a long overdue cleaning or replacement of your coil heads. The nauty mini's never failed me, and I've been able to keep it at 13 watts while still giving me a very satisfying vape when dripping is inconvenient. There are plenty other midrange offerings available in that upgrade path if you're willing to try building coils yourself, but I'd at least recommend you move away from clearomizers as it seems you're starting to outgrow your equipment as is.

Hope this helps!

haha probably true! The CE4 tanks i'm using suck. The nova doesn't seem to be burning at 3.8v now. scared to go higher in case of burning the coil now! I've ordered an estick. Really like this nova at the min, I dont know what to upgrade too though, just don't like the look of the nautilus. Any recommendations to go with the istick?

Thanks for all the feedback guys

I use

mini Nautilus (obviously...)
Carto-tank (not so obvious, that one) and
mini Protanks with handmade coils.

If you put a shop-bought mini Protank on an iStick, you might have problems.

If you want to rebuild I would suggest the Lemo. The Atlantis will not work on the eleaf as it is below the minimum ohm limit of the device 1-3 ohms. I can't really say there is any other plug and play coils i really am interested in. Paying for coils sucks. But the best out according to many is the one you don't like. I like the look especially with the stainless tank insert on the full size naut.
