Hi! I recently switched to the Vision Stardust Cartomizer and noticed a few issues and wanted to get some input/feedback as to what am I doing wrong and how to fix it:

What I have:
1) 2 EGO 650 mAh batteries
2) 7 Vision Stardust Cartomizers from GotVapes.com
3) 100% VG Liquid from velvetvapors.com
4) Many different cartomizers, like Kanger, Blucigs, CE2, Mega tank...

Initially I ordered 2 Vision stardust to test.
1) The first one was great till day 3 when I started noticing stress cracks at the bottom to the point that juice started to leak. I did not abuse the cartos but still the crack kept getting bigger and juice kept leaking.

2) Switched to the second Carto. Tasted the initial bad taste but after a few hours of vaping (not a heavy user), the taste on the second carto was good. But then I started noticing Juice on the inside, on the battery connection. Thought I might just have spillled some in the center during refill. Cleaned it but within a few minutes, the juice was back on the battery connector and leaking onto my hands. Plus started getting gurgling.

I thought maybe I got a bad carto, but at $5+ it pinches. Anyhow ordered another 5 just to be sure.
Got them. The two cartos from my previous order were really bad now ( both lasted me only 1 week total).

Started using the first one from the new order. It was good after the initial bad taste. But then by day 2 or vaping it started to leak again down at the battery connector. I lost more juice due to it leaking. So read up and someone somewhere suggested not to tilt it too much. Keep it straight. But then I get a dry hit and bad taste and wick burns out.

Now I am on my 3rd Cartos from the second order and again its leaking at the center.

What am I doing wrong.
I need a cart that won't leak, or burn and loose juice or gurgle with juice in my mouth and not have to keep refilling it continuously. I don't like dripping due to the same reason.

Anyone with any advise would be helpful.

Thanks

We used those a lot. There's the good chance that the leaking is because the mouthpiece is not tightened down all the way. It can be a little tricky with those, and they may seem to be on all the way but aren't. There should be no gap between the mouthpiece and the metal ring, not even a fingernail's worth. If it's at all loose, juice can get between the mouthpiece and the rubber cap inside, go down the metal tube and out the bottom. The cracking is usually due to a particular juice, which kind are you using?

As far as the initial bad taste, we haven't experienced that, but it almost sounds like you have some think juice that's having difficulty wicking in.

**Edit - you said cartomizer, not clearomizer like I thought I read. If they're not clearomizers, please disregard, as this wouldn't apply.**

Actually, GotVapes classifies the Vision Ego Stardust as a cartomizer (I've seen other vendors call the C4 ego clearomizer a tank). I've never heard of a stardust leaking as described, but thanks GWG73 for explaining how it could.

The cracking was endemic with a batch made right after the Chinese New Year that didn't get enough attention during manufacturing (and less QC). It has been reported that the newer shipments are showing a lot lower percentage initially cracked. Some users have reported that the plastic does crack if used with a high acid juice (cinamon, citrus, cola). I understand that GotVapes has some eco glue that they'll send to their stardust customers that seals up the cracks.

The stardusts have really short wicks that don't work well with really thick juice (I think Gotvapes recommends no more than 40% VG). Your using 100% VG would expain why you get some Dry Hits. Some users have modified the wicks to work better with high VG juices - remove some threads to open the weave and fluff the ends. One person even laid in another wick above the coil and slit the silicon cap to get more room to avoid squeezing the wicks when the mouthpiece was screwed down.

I think the initial Bad Taste was attributed to either: a thick coil that needed to be broken in; or the manufacturer not firing the ceramic cup enough after manufacturing. One user said he avoided the bad taste by cleaning and dry firing before using it. In any case it appears to go away within a quarter of the first tank.

The stardust is the best ejuice delivery system I've used, I'm sorry you're running into all these issues.

Hope everything works out for you. Take care and Happy Vaping.

GWG73 - thanks for an excellent explanation. I just tightened the mouth piece more. Also checked the Second Carto from my first order and its mouth piece was missing the rubber O Ring on the mouthpiece which could explain the leaking problem.

I will try and be sure about the Mouthpiece being tight for a few days and update the forum with my results.

Thanks
