Visual differences of ego threaded Aspire BDC/BVC coils

So I'm not particularly new to vaping but I have recently come upon a new problem... When Aspire made the switch to BVC coils I was thrilled and have been using them for months! Problem: I recently received a new order of replacement coils and despite the fact that they are marked as BVC, they look exactly like BDC coils.... so I contact the shop, and they say "maybe Aspire changed the way they look, we pulled all BDC products, yada yada" but I'm not sure I buy that. I don't think they are lying, I just think there is some confusion going on. It may very well be on my part but I'm adding some pics to explain what I mean -- I'm used to my BVC's being solid (right pic) and the old BDC's (left pic) having the groove, but the new order I got has grooves sooooo.... am I wrong?

Take a look down into the coil; if you see something that goes across (from side to side) and looks like a coiled wire, then its a BDC. If it looks hollow except for the inside circumference (around the inside of the unit) where you can kind of sort of see the coiled wire, then its a BVC. Don't have any to take pictures of right now, but hope this helps.
I have hod both types of coils with both types of ends (grooved an non grooved).
