Could be but i replace the coils once a week. I like a good throat hit and the extra cost of the heads is worth it to me. Anyway, i filled up the tank with new juice and still had a problem until i replaced the head again (the one i just replaced yesterday). Now it works great and the draw isn't as tight. Apparently, the juice was so bad, it ruined the new head immediately. From now on, i'm dumping out the old juice with every refill!
That's pretty much all I've been doing . Seems to work, and I don't really expect to keep it going forever, if I can clean and reuse a few times, id still call it pretty cost efficient at $2 a throw. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I'm not looking hard for the next best thing, at least not like I was, these are really nice!
1. Disassemble.
2. Very hot wated in a cup.
3. Place all parts in the cup.
4. Swirl for 20-30 seonds.
5. Sieve it out, shake the sieve to remove most of the water.
6. Dry each part with kitchen towel.
7. Leave the warm parts laid out for 3-4 mins.
8. Reassemble.
Works for me every time and I get no residue flavor.

I just got my nova yesterday and after vaping all day with one flavor, I wanted to switch to another. I found this thread and I can say that all I ended up doing was: take apart, rinse all parts in hot water, dry all parts in a hand towel, let sit for about 30 minutes, put back together and fill. Never tasted funny or burnt, tastes just like when I opened it yesterday. Thanks everyone for the help!
I do just about the same, but I gently pat the threads dry, then I dry burn the head for 3 - 5 second bursts until no more steam comes out. This dries the water out of the stem, too, and gets rid of any residue on the coil.
Yupper..Same here. I was originally using the 1.8ohm short wick. Now I am trying out the long wick 2.8ohm on my Lambo 4.0 at 4.5 volts. Great flavour btw. When I dry burn, I will go for approx 8-10 second blasts until the coil glows red hot and all of the coils are burning. Then lightly blowing on the coil, I do a couple 5 second bursts. Haven't had any taste issues or damage to the wicks yet. This is all done without the tank and silicon cap on the coil. After the coil cools, then I reassemble the whole thing. I like to burn this long to ensure I incinerate anything that is on the coils and blowing to remove any burnt particulates.
I just use the faucet and semi hot water flowing to rinse the parts. Towel dry with paper towel and do the dry burn.
Just now I did this but repeated the process several times.
I kept the coil on the battery, but removed the clear case and the silicon nipple that is on the head so you could see the coil and wick through it, heated the coil dunked shook, heated the coil dunked shook repeated several times.
I was not heating until anything in particular happened, just heating for 1-2 seconds a few times.
As I dunked I kept the heat on and whisked the coil a bit. (I only did this because I could see so much residue from the Chocolate flavour I had Vaped 2weeks ago)
Put it back together and suffered for a few min, then Heaven

My first Vivi Nova cleaning and new juice fill.. Took apart and rinsed everything as everyone else has pretty much done and using a smaller stream and water pressure I ran it down on top of the coils and actually back-wicked the old juice (Strawberry Fuzz @ AltSmoke) from the center post to the end of the wicks (long version). This pretty much cleaned the wicks and I dry patted and dried everything paying attention not to tugging or pulling on the wicks. Did this maybe 1-2 more times and to the nose there was no smell of Strawberry left so I let them sit to air dry for an hour..
Put the Vivi, without tank and top cap w/ washer, and dry burned a few times (4-8 sec) until the coils glowed red and once all remaining moisture appeared gone and no further steam. Re-assembled and filled with juice. First few hits were lackluster but the 4th and there after were great again and 'poppin' the atty just fine.
Overall time maybe 1:30 mins from start to finish and no off flavor and vaping fine as I type

Isn't that the greatest? The first few hits have a bit of water left in them, but as far as easy vaping/maintenance goes, I think this one wins the prize.
Since I strarted dry burning the coil after washing drying and repeating my vivi nova mini on my ego twist it definately improves things. So now I do the same with new coils and you would be amazed how much oxidation is on them. I do exact same with my Kanger T2 now I think I prefer the Kanger.
For the people with the older (pre 2.5 or knock-off) vivi novas with the longer connector, just like with all tanks/cartos you shouldn't ever try to screw something down all the way onto your mod because you will push the floating pin in too far and it will get stuck down there. Just screw it in untill you feel any resistance and you've probably gone far enough. I replaced my older ones w/ 2.5's because the length of the connector made them look all funky sticking out and I didn't want to screw it down and push in the floating pins on my mods, plus the air hole is in a weird place on those IMO.
Also, for dry burning, turn your mod down to ~3v or so, and just fire it while blowing on it to stoke it. Stop firing it for a sec and scrape the coil very lightly w/ a thumb tack or paperclip to get the gunk off, then fire it up again while blowing on it and repeat. Keep doing this untill it stops smoking and all the gunk buildup is gone, then just rinse it off to get rid of any excess ash or whatnot. I find it best to do this at least twice a week and your atty will last at least a month or two.

I just got my first leaky problem. I think it's a wick that has come to it's end. I hate to pour out 1 ml of juice to fix it though. Gah!
