I recently got a sig zmax and some nova minis. I immediately rewicked with butcher's twine and am vaping at 10w. I have been a long time genesis advocate, but I must say. This takes the cake in performance and significantly lessens pain in the ... for making coils. but I am getting a very slow leak on the bottom of tank where it meets the knurling. I am thinking I need a new gasket and would like to know if you guys know where I can source some.

The nova is an RBA and is much easier than the genesis setup, I have also had experience with the iatty. I have been a die-hard mechanical mod guy with genesis attys for more than half my vaping career. The zmax set to 10w and a nova with the cotton wick is by far the best IMO in all aspects. Flavor and vapor production is top notch, TH is milder for me compared to genesis top coil setups using the same juice. If I had started with the nova and ended up with a genesis later I would feel I would be taking a step back. The nova, to me, is that good.

The vivis are cheap and very good. I am a fan of the mini and the tank. You might consider wrapping two 1mm hemp wicks with 32awg kanthal. I just hold them together and wrap loosely by hand. It produces a oval coil that has great vapor and taste. It's worth the experience imo. The Hemp holds out much better than any cotton I've tried. It will even withstand some dry burning to a point. Not all hemp twine will wick very well, and some has wax in it. Here's the best we've found so far:
Hemp Twine Cord 1mm 20 Test 5 10 or 25 Yards Color Selectable | eBay
Of course "natural" is the color a vaper would want :)

I've tried AGAs, (Tiamat and the Hydra). They are okay, but I don't care for the "cold" vape they produce. The Smoktech "R" is a good one for ease of use rebuilding. Not so sure about the longevity of this device though. Not a bad price at 17USD.

The best vape I've ever experienced is with the Terminator. It is a clone of the Odysseus. I tried to get an "Ody" but they are hard to find and are no longer being made. I've seen damaged ones sell for over 200 on the classifieds. Since I picked this up, all my other attys/RBAs are collecting dust, except for the vivis that I take when travelling. The copy of the "Ody" so well done that it has all the quirks of the original. It's not as easy to "coil and go" like the Vivi, but well worth the trouble in my opinion.

I believe the Vivis's design is based off the Ody to a large extent, just minimized. So if you want the vape style of a vivi, but the longevity of a true rebuild-able, the Terminator is what you're looking for. This is not a beginner RBA by any means.
I got mine from Stormy's vapor cellar; a registered supplier here on ECF. Faaast delivery and excellent service. I am not an affiliate, just a customer!

Interesting, do you boil the hemp twine first?

Cotton, hemp, everything I boil. I don't know who (or what) it has come in contact with it before it reached me. Say the guy in Pakistan that packaged my cheesecloth had a cold and forgot to wash his hands. I have no interest in getting sick. Also, those of us who smoked for 20+ years are more at risk for getting sick. I'm paranoid like that :)

Back on point, I fixed the leak by screwing the tank upside-down. So that the graduated markings are upside down when in use. But the catch is that now I'm getting a slow leak coming out of the battery connector. I assured that the metal funnel was all the way down in the gasket and that the head was screwed down tight. I have 3 of them and only have one that works well. The other 2 leak as described previously. On the upside I just discovered that a vape at 8w for me is just as satisfying as 10w. And the 1 tank that is leak free works like a champ

Oh! yes, your leak: I wish I knew where you could source that seal. Have you searched ECF? I've never had that particular leak, but I only own 10 vivis in total; two of which are the tank variants.

There's a tiny gasket up behind the 510 connector. Hard to explain, but if you remove the head and push the that pin that supplies power to the head, it will slide out through the bottom. Watch for the small gasket on that pin. It's easy to miss. Sometimes this gasket becomes mis-aligned with causes gurgling and leaking. It *should* sitting in a slight groove that's on the pin.

My DH uses the Mini ViVi Nova. It occasionally starts to leak. One reason is the base, where bottom of tube screws on getting slightly out of round from drops but thats not the only reason. Poster before me, thanks. It will give me some things to check out.

BTW.. the plastic tubes usually survive the drops. And now that I've learned to rebuild the atty heads I'm having him no longer toss them. With new info found here maybe we can save some bases instead of tossing. (He doesn't like the anodized tubes.)
