I have been trying the ss mesh on my vivi nova minis with great success! 400 weave with 32 wag kanthal. I am typically getting 1.6 ohms on my resistance and firing at 3.8 volts on my provari. I am wondering though how tightly I should wrap around the wick? One of my 3 setups is like vaping snap crackle pop pop rocks style. Did I wrap too tight on this one?

Hi cowfood and welcome to ECF. I've got ss mesh and Kanthal ready to go for my VN, but I've not done it yet because the original coil/wick is still going strong. In the research I've done on re-coiling these I think the coils should just touch the wick. I suspect if you are happy with the performance of your coil it's all good. Just my opinion though. Much luck with it! I hear it can be really nice.

Pics or it didn't happen.... ;-)

But seriously, I'd love to see some close-up pics of this setup, to see how you do it. I've been considering rebuilding some of my Vivi Nova heads with mesh, and I'm not really sure how to go about it. Can you take some close-up pics and post them?

Todd explains it all rather nicely in his video. Tips: be careful your coils don't bunch up under the wick it's easy to do and not so easy to see if you have, when you cut your mesh cut it on the bias that way your wick will be more flexible - this way you can slowly twist the wick in and out the coil if required and you can also check your coils aren't touching and fix them easier, lastly you don't have to oxidize the whole wick only the section going through and touching the head.
Best of luck.;)

You might want to oxidize the whole wick as this makes it completely unable to conduct electricity,if not you may get a short circuit.

Is this another way of suggesting to cut the mesh on a 45 degree angle as opposed to perpendicular? Also I'll post a pick or two when I get a chance, ohh and todd's video is where I got started. :D
