I've read about 5 different tutorials on rebuilding a VN coil. I understand the benefit of using NR wire, but also see tutorials that don't use it. It's probably best to use it or I risk burning my rubber gaskets, right?
One tutorial I read says take a 16g AWG wire and remove the stranded copper wire and use two single strands from that. Well, I have a bunch of wire, but I'm not quite sure which is 16g. The one I think is the right one is a braided strand and seems like it's 16g. It's smaller then 14AWG, but not by much.
So I'm wondering if all 16AWG stranded copper wire has the same sized strands, or if the size of the individual strands is irrelevant. Or is the copper wire supposed to be the same size at my Kanthal which is size 32.
I have a multimeter. Is there a way I could determine the correct NR wire using that?
