Just got my volcano battery in the mail, which I purchased as a replacement for my Blu battery that crapped out on me because 1) the Blu website doesn't like me and won't process my orders for some reason and 2) my last blu battery crapped out on me.

Being about half the price doesn't hurt either.

I did my research, and it *seems* like they're fundamentally the same design, the L88b, but after I learned a hard lesson with the last (510) battery I bought, I wanted to be absolutely sure before I charge this thing.

Will my Blu PPC or USB charger fry this battery, and if so, should I use my Joytech 510 charger instead?

I would recommend to always use a charger from the same company you bought your ecig, due to warranty reasons.
That said, if it does have the same connection it might work, but again it might not. I had the volcano inferno (typically an ego) and the charger broke after a year, which is past their warranty, so I ended up using a standard ego charger, but had no problems there.

Use a 510 battery with a 510 charger.

It's also useful to know what type of output the battery expects from the charger you use, and what type of output the charger actually delivers. If the charger delivers less than the expected output, then your charge time will be longer. If the charger delivers more than the expected output, it could fry your battery.

If you don't know these values or can't determine them, don't connect the battery to the charger.

Well, the "V" battery for the Volcano Starter Kit that Volcano is selling on their clearance page is the same battery as in the Blu "standard" kit. I checked and double checked this myself and, also, actually charged a "V" battery on a Blu PCC and USB.

What Volcano themselves told me is the Blu "original" and the old "Volcano Starter Kit"--that Volcano is discontinuing--are actually made by the same company. They're the same thing only branded. But that's the original, standard Blu. Not any "premium" or "100" or anything. Just plain old Blu. The one sold in Walgreens and such. Volcano is dropping the model, Blu seems to be dumping on retail stores like crazy.

So if you're talking the old, original, plain, blah Blu, yeah, the "V" battery like on the clearance page is an exact replacement and I've done it myself.

Thank you.

Not to throw a wrench in the gears, but isn't the polarity on a blu opposite from the standard ego types?

Yes, yes it is. That's how I accidentally toasted my 510. Wanted to make sure that the volcano e-cigs were also the reverse polarity which, it seems, they are.
