I have a Volt X2 manual 900 mAh battery. I had it sitting on the table next to me and all of a sudden it turned itself on. I could hear the hiss....had a clearo attached....and the button was lit up. I thought maybe I had layed it down on the button...I had that happen once before. Nope. I picked it up and it was still on...hissing away. I pressed the button and it went off. Thought maybe the button was stuck. It seems fine. I haven't spilled anything on it or in it. I stood it up on end without the clearo attached and it lit up again. If I press the button it goes off but in less than a minute it turns itself on again. Kinda freaking me out now. Just since I have typed this it has gone on about 7 times....yikes!!

Anyone have an idea why this is happening?

Relax probably the mosfet has a problem, throw it like a handgrenade to someone you don't like.
Without load the battery won't discharge that fast, but even if you had a load (like a carto, a lamp etc) the asic has a 3.2V cut off voltage so it will stop the potentially dangerous discharge of the battery without damaging itself or the neighbours house or the whole neighbourhood.

Being confined to a wheelchair with a high above the knee amputation and the other leg with a total knee replacement that is having problems, I worry about safety a lot more. I am thankful for SI taking care of this situation for me.

This actually happend to me briefly today. It was when I was going to plug it in and had the USB cable upside down. The contacts touched the X2's input of it and you could see the button light come on. I've seen that multiple times when the USB is upside down (50/50 chance right?!) So it didn't seem odd to me. The contact causes the light to show so no biggie only this time I heard the hissing of it turning on! I just removed the contact of the cable and pressed the button and it stopped. Plugged it back in the correct way and turned out fine.

Not planning to send it in for a replacement or anything unless it becomes a problem but could just be the contact of the cable when people are going to plug it in that causes it.
