Both, depending on the coil.

W=V^2/R (Watts = square of the voltage over resistance). this is your power drain from the battery.

The second factor is effective watts- what converted to heat \ vapor.

If you use a very low res single coil, at some point you just drain battery (and eventually burn).
However, if you use Dual coil the higher the wattage the more vapor.

So IMO if you use dual coils (1/r = 1/r1 + 1/r2), go with wattage - it will be a good estimate of vapor production
However if you use single coil, I would stay on lower wattage or just use the voltage as an indicator.

I didnt read all these posts.
I use vv most of the time.

But say i get a new flavor juice. I usually will use watts. I start it at 6.5 vape on it for half hour or so, bump it up to 7' a little later try 7.5...
I do this just to help me find sweet spot for this new juice.

I use to set it and forget it, but i was missing out on flavor. Example, mistereliquid neptune i was vaping at 7.5 watts and hated it, all my other juices were fine on 7.5 watts. Then one day i bumped it down to 6.5 watts and i could taste more flavor and it wasnt harsh on my throat. Turns out i like my bakery flavors at a higher voltage, berry and fruits lower voltage, menthols kinda in the middle. I rarely go over 8 watts.

Now google ohms chart. That will explain alot for you with just looking at it.

As a general rule when using voltage... Add two to your ohms... If my tank is 2.2 and i add 2 that is 4.2 so i know not to exceed 4.2 volts so i dont burn my coils. If your ohms is 3.2 you are going to need higher voltage. Again add 2 and that gives 5.2 as a safe maximum voltage to use.

I set at ohms :)
Rebuild able on my reo grand.

But we all work to get a certain wattage, or power, really. Just as all roads lead to Rome... Vw vv and coil building all lead back to wattage

This is probably some of the best sense I've heard about watts around here. Kudos for simplifying it so well and clearly :headbang:
