Boy did you come to the right place! I just got my VP1 today.

The difference is battery size. The VP1 takes a rechargable AAA type (it's stronger then a regular AAA) and the VP2 takes a rechargable AA type (again much stronger). The 2 is a bit bigger around. That's it kiddo.

I am comparing the battery sizes when I say AAA and AA, they are NOT your normal flashlight batteries!

There are only two types of VP's. Not 4. The other choices are for adapters. to use with those 2 VP's.

Both the VP1 and 2 come ready to use an 801 atty.
You will need to get the 901 adapter or the 510 adapter to make it work with other atty's. There are only 2 choices of full kits. But you can order the less expensive bare bones kit that doesn't give you any atty's at all. You get the adapter of your choice instead.

I bought the 801 kit and ordered the 901 adapter. That way I could try using the 801 atty..which I have never tried before. I have a lot of 901 atty's already.

The result is that I love both atty's with the VP1.

I don't know much about the VP2, but if it is any better then mine, not just because it has a bigger, longer lasting battery, but performs better..then it must be truly wonderful!

Go here to see the models sizes Look on the left side of the page and scroll down to model line up. VaprLife
