DSE901 vs DSE801 comparison

Hey all. I'm a noob who purchased both of these models and received them last week and now I have a question: Does anyone else find that the 901 model gives much better results compared to analogs than the 801. I want to use the 901 when I am out and about and the 801 when at home taking it easy. I find that the flavor and throat hit on the 901 is significantly better with the 801 barely registering using the exact same e-liquid.

Am I doing something wrong or is this what is to be expected from the pen style and the only fix is to put the e-liquid I use on steroids and pump it up?

PS: I love these things since I have not smoked in the house or car for over 5 years and these things are a godsend. I will admit that I have not converted entirely to e-cigs but I have cut my analog usage by at least 50 percent in less than a week. I do plan to eventually put them down entirely but I'm not going to rush it since I have been on them for almost 35 years (yes, I'm an old fart).

I hope next to invest in a 510 with a PCC because even the 901 does not seem consistant on the throat hit and I really like that part of the process.

Anyone else experiencing the same difference (is that an oxymoron?:)) between the 901 and the 801?

Now that's odd - I have exactly the opposite experience. I found the 901 to be good at producing lots of visible vapour - but little of it ended up in my lungs. An 801, however, especially on passthrough - great stuff! It just goes to show that we all have different experiences with these things. It was, of course, just the same with cigarettes and pipes. There are the ones you like and the ones you don't. :)

Have you got a paperclip to hand? Good. Take the 801 cart and lift the filler so that it is just above the top of the cart. Top the cart up so that it's good and wet but not pooling in the middle. Now try it with a fresh battery. And if you haven't tried it yet - add a drop of glycerine (you can get it from the pharmacy). Works wonders! :)

I love the 901 - nothing but good vapor content and quality taste. It's the closest I've found to actually smoking. Also tried the 401 but it was harsh on the throat and virtually vaporless. I plan on throwing that one in the trash and enjoy my 901 forever and a day.

Really? Gosh - I have several Evos (modified 401) and they CHUCK out vape! You may have a bad atty - have you tried another? Keep the carts good and wet and the Evo atty is a winner in my book!

Thanks e-pipeman. I see that you are in the UK so you may not know the answer to this but do I ask the pharmacist for Glycerine or Propoline Glycol?
Vegetable Glycerine (USB grade). You can find it at Michaels and other Craft stores, Walmart in the pharmacy section and most of the Sprouts, Whole Foods and groceries such as that.

You can also get the Propylene Glycol from the pharmacy, I got mine at a CVS.

If you have troubles finding it, or would rather order on line, I've bought Propylene Glycol from Electronic Ash (see the Supplier's Forum). I think they carry the VG as well. Price was very good too!

Thanks HAH. I guess what I am really asking is is there a difference between PG and glycerine when it comes to helping with vapor production and throat hit? I googled them but couldn't determine the answer from the data I found.

VG does help to give a more vapor, but some find it 'soapy' tasting. I however, don't notice it at all and like the sweetness it gives liquids. Seems everyone has a different taste opinion when it comes to e-liquids. Start with a small bottle of it. You can always buy more.

Personally, when I cut down a high mg e-liquid I use both the PG and VG in a 50/50 mix for cutting. You'll have to experiment a bit to decide what you like.
