As we all know, pretty much everywhere is out of stock of VTC5's. I actually picked up the very last two VTC5's at my favorite brick and mortar here in Portland, OR today. I was way stoked,,,I mean, the LAST TWO and I came in wanting two, that was awesome. Especially after they said, "We only have VTC4's... Wait, no. We do have 2 VTC5's." I heard a rumor that Sony has stopped making VTC5's and maybe even VTC4's because they are upset that people (aka vapers) are using them unprotected and not in battery packs like they intended. Anyone know what's up with these?

One of the folks at Illumination Supply reported that they had a meeting with a Sony Factory Rep and reportedly he told them that they had to move the plant because of the Fukishima disaster and the new one is in the Phillipines and that move was the cause of the "shortage" ... but they had no plans to discontinue them.

xtar has partnered with Sony to sell the VTC series under their own label (re-wrapped Sony's, like the purple Efest 2100mah 30 amp battery is a re-wrapped Sony VTC4). So this means there will be another source to obtain Sony batteries. They will be available in both flat and button top. http://www.xtarlight.com/05-chanpin/p-001-1.asp?styleid=297&style=Battery%20Series

" This xtar branded, Sony VTC4, 2100mAh, 30 amp high discharge, 18650 battery is the ultimate choice for the e-cig and vape customer. XTAR has an excellent reputation in the industry for building best-in-class chargers, and they’ve partnered with Sony to provide a great battery for use with your mod, personal vaporizer, or e-cigarette. These VTC4 cells are available in either flat-top or button-top configuration."
