VTR auto-firing?

So, this last Saturday I was sitting at my computer desk running through some homework, and I reached over for my VTR to indulge in a vape. It was hot to the touch when I grabbed it. I ejected the battery immediately, and let the son of a B cool down a little bit before re-inserting the battery. It went through the normal start-up routine, and I took a hesitant draw off of it. It worked fine, and since then, it has yet to produce any similar results. Is it auto-firing? I did a search of the forums and the web, using "vtr auto-firing" as the key words, with no results.

Attached at the time was an Aero tank with a standard 2.0 ohm coil, and I had a Sony vtc4 powering the unit.
Thanks for the help.

Innokin APVs have a 10 second "Overtime Vaping Warning" output cutoff, so it would require a "locked down" button, or a fused firing circuit... and would have had to fire, shut off and fire again... continuously, until the battery voltage dropped down to "Low Voltage Warning" auto shut down.

If this cycle were to occur with you in close proximity, you probably would have noticed it either by light or sound. Had the above occurred for a period of time prior to use, it likely would not have been hot.
If the above were true and VTR circuitry were at fault... installing a new, fresh battery would likely have resulted in the same cycle repeating.

If we accept the above, then it's safe to assume you have a flawed battery... and, welcome to ECF, Troy. ;-)

Huh. I have one and nothing that weird has happened. A few oddities but nothing spectacular.

Myself, I'd first be suspicious of the battery. A defective battery could heat up inside the unit. That could be a battery on its way to A Very Bad Failure (they gas, overheat, burst, nasty stuff).

But I'm just speculating here. The only truly bizarre thing I've read about with a VTR is a unit that read the resistance of a coil wrong while on VW and ramped up the voltage and burned itself out.

Which would be a nasty design flaw that. I've gotten into the habit of pushing the button to read the resistance now and again just to check that it's not doing something weird. So far, no. Though I have noticed the reading can vary a bit more than I'd like.

I'm currently on my second VTR. The first one just wouldn't shut off. As soon as the battery was put inside it began to fire, no lights on nothing. No 10 second shutoff. I search online and found nothing about any issue like that. I notified the company I got it for and they replaced it. I haven't had any issue with this one so far.

There was no indication, firing indicator light, or otherwise that the APV was firing. Also, the battery was on its second charge, so they're fairly new. I mentioned all this to the gentleman that runs the shop where this unit and battery were purchased. He asked me to keep him informed on any further developments of this nature, I assume, with the intent of offering me a replacement.
Thanks for the help, everyone.

+1 And as stated I would chuck that battery just to be safe or atleast not use it for vaping anymore, maybe a flashlight where you'll know rite away if its getting hot. I would personally just chuck it.

Last weekend, I build a 0.6 ohm micro coil on my newly acquired Fogger v4 and due to numerous report that the VTR fires sub-ohm I gave it a several long draws and it work like a charm, but sadly the next following day. It completely stop firing, the light indicator continue to flash but it produced no vapor. I used it on countless rebuildable and even the nautilus, same result..

Does anyone faces this issue?
