I purhcased a VV box mod from MV because I hear a lot of talk that these Dual Coil 1.6 ohm carto's are amazing at 3.7v but even better at 4.0-4.5v. I understand that they are actually two 3.2 ohm coils so upping the voltage won't burn them out, but what exactly can i expect by upping the voltage to 4 or 5 when using these DualCoils? in other words, what are you guys setting your voltage at ?

I just realized that all of my atties are 2.0 ohm and 1.8 ohm so I can't really use the VV for those types of atties. I havent had a standard ohm atty in a long time, but I would imagine they a 2.5-3.0 ohm atty will perform great when using the 6V option ?

I also bought a few 5.0ohm cartomizers (single coil), do you guys suggest vaping these at 6v or 7.4 v ?
Also, since LR's have been introduced a year ago, they simulate 5v vaping, will i notice a difference in using a 5ohm cartomizer with the voltage of 7.4, vs using a 3.7 battery using a 1.7ohm atty? Or will they be exactly the same? both will give you warmer vape, but i'm wondering what are the benefits of using a standard ohm atty, at high voltage, vs an LR atty. Is it the fact that the atty will last longer ? since there is not too much strain on the atty? I would imagine that taste and vapor would be the same since the wattage all equals out anyway.

3.7*3.7/2.0 = 6.8 watts

7.4*7.4/5 = 10.9

So as you can see, vaping 7.54 with 5 ohm might be a little hot. I might have to dial it down to 6V.

6*6/5 = 7.2 watts - which is normally the sweet spot.

Can you guys shed some light for me ? I'm finally going over to VV, but I need guidance on what ohm's i should be getting and what I can expect. Also, it would help if anyone can tell me what they are using their 1.5 ohm dual coils at in terms of voltage on their VV PV.

Also, how is the battery life when using 2 14500 batteries at 6v ? Are we talking only a few hours of vaping since the dial is up ? I would imagine the move volts you use, the more the battery has to work so I don't expect this mod to last very long, and most likely won't last the whole day.

Wow, i asked a lot of questions and rambled, I'm sorry...but just looking for some guidance.

Not a newb, im' a 3.7 guy, but i'm a total noob at VV and finding my sweet spot.

I don't normally use Dual Coils (don't like 'em), but I have used them at 5v with no problem. Someone else can chime in about these in specific :p

Actually, you can in fact use those attys with VV, I do. I have a 2.2ohm on my ProVari currently set at 4.6v. I've used 2.0 at the same voltage and I've also used 1.5ohms at 4v.

2.5-3.0ohm are great as well. One of the greatest things about VV is not having to worry about what resistance of atty/carto to purchase because you can use any of them :) Thus the point of being able to alter the voltage.

I also bought a few 5.0ohm cartomizers (single coil), do you guys suggest vaping these at 6v or 7.4 v ?

There are many threads with a lot of opinions veering towards no, they will not taste the same regardless if they're putting out the same wattage. And I agree. Whether or not they last longer or not, I do not know. Generally, my attys last a really long time because I clean them regularly.

To me, it depends on the juice. If you know your sweet spot, then by all means, attain it :) If you do not know it, slap whatever atty/carto on and start at a lower voltage. Slowly increase the voltage and take a puff until you find the taste to be to your liking ;) Voila, sweet spot found.

Also, how is the battery life when using 2 14500 batteries at 6v ? Are we talking only a few hours of vaping since the dial is up ? I would imagine the move volts you use, the more the battery has to work so I don't expect this mod to last very long, and most likely won't last the whole day.

I cannot speak for VV, but I have and do use a 5v regulated box (also from MadVapes, but made by Steve a.k.a. GodZilla), and it too uses 2 14500s. I can get through a 7-8 hour shift on a charge and I vape heavily when I can.

Never shy from questions, if I had, I'd still be smoking  Hopefully some others can jump in and answer some of your dual coil questions, and hopefully I helped even a little :)

You helped a great deal !! Thanks so Much. I honestly had no idea that you could set the provari to 4.7 on 2.2 ohms. I would think that's so hot and the juice would burn so fast but like you said ....everyone is different. Also 1.5 ohm at 4v is definitely a preference because personally I think 1.5 is too hard when using a tornado battery at 3.2v . So wow. That must be a nice kick in the throat.

Thanks for answering my questions about the battery also. That's good to hear and now I can dig up old 3.0 ohm atties and put them to use. Also I can buy regular ohm atties which are cheaper and have a warranty which LR atties do not have.

I purchased 5.0 ohm boges so I'll probably enjoy that at 6.5-7.4v and im going to give my 2.0 atty a boost and see how it works at 4v and I'll hope not to blow an atty :)

ok. I created a ticket at madvapes, and gave them my order number, and Chris asked me what voltage i wanted him to set it at before it shipped, and i said put it at 4.0 volts, and no response. then i got an email from madvapes that it shipped, so i have no idea if he did that before it shipped or not. but like you said, i'll just turn the knob until i like the taste and vapor, or i can just use a multi meter and see what 3.7 is and mark it.

They probably did that for you. Madvapes has some good customer service. Anyways, just got one of their volt indicators which made it a whole lot easier to determine what voltage I was at when I adjusted the dial. They're out of stock right now but, you might wanna click on their notify me button and be put on the wait list:

thanks washvap. I can order the 12.99 multi-meter that they have in stock and that can do the same thing correct ? it might not tell me what the voltage is with the atty connected, but i'll atleast be able to see what the box itself is putting out. I have an auto digital multi reader from radioshack and it's garbage and doesnt do the job. but i think the one for 12.99 at madvapes can also tell me the volts that it's pushing out, also can give me ohms for resistance. so that might be a better buy for me.

Any multimeter will do the job, the screw on ones are just more convenient. If you don't already have a regular one that works I'd get that first as you can do more with it then if you want get the screw on type for convenience later. Once you get use to the mod you'll rarely use a meter anyway, you'll be able to feel basically where it's at. Harbor Freight has good prices on a basic meter.

No problem. Honestly not to sure about the multi-meter since I've never used one. But, a lot of people do use those to check out voltages of their batteries and atty/carto output.

All I know is that something like that has been a tremendous help for me.I don't mind changing the dial for taste but it's like being in the dark about what voltage your actually at. Before I got the voltage indicator. I though I was vaping at around 5V and it turns out that I was at 6.2V on a 2.5 ohm carto.

finally bought a decent multi-meter, and now i can see how many volts are coming out of the connection. i put the black wire on the ground, red in the center, and boom..I see that my 3.7v box mod was putting out 4.0 on a charged battery. 3.2 on a tornado, so finally I'll be able to use this and test my volts and ohms. I created a new topic, because i tested the ohms of all my attys and they are wayyyyyyyyy off on what i thought they were .

thanks all

Wow 6.2 v is very high on 2.5 ohm. Did the battery last short on you or didn't last you all day while using it

Nope, the batts didn't short on me. It lasted me a while since I switch off between the VV and REO all day. But, the carto did get burnt at around the two day mark LOL.

No problem man, congrats on getting the multimeter. Hope you get that issue solved with your new thread.
