I recently purchased a VV Lavatube. After using it for a couple days it doesn't seem to provide the same vapor production or throat hit as my VV Box mod. I have them both set at 6 volts, fresh batteries, and exact same HV clearo's.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this same experience. And if so what would make them not perform the same if they are running at the same volts? I'm a bit confused about it all z

You would have to get and use a voltmeter to actually know what voltage each device is running. The LT notorious for dropping the voltage but that is usually wiith lr stuff. Just because you have it set to a certain voltage doesn't mean that is the voltage you are getting under load. Some devices drop more than others (and some certain devices don't drop at all)

My guess is that each device is really at different voltages. My madvapes vv box drops very little underload. When using the lt, I never really knew what it was doing unless I had a voltmeter on it.

I've got a LT and an MV VV box mod and the box mod definitely hits better at 6v. I was only seeing a .1 or .2 drop with my MV box mod when it was set to 6v. I wasn't able to test my LT because my piece of crap volt meter from MV broke (actually semi-broke the 2nd time I used it). I'm not surprised that it hits better since the box mod is running at a true 6v while the LT is using a boost circuit to hit that. For what it is and what it cost, I like the LT though (got it new for $50 shipped). If I could only have one, I'd choose the MV VV box mod for sure.

I've had the LT for about a week now and done some voltage test with different ohms. What I've found so far with mine is it should have been marketed as a 3 - 5v range vv. I've never gotten anywhere near 6v or 5.5 for that matter with it under load even with a fresh AW IMR and a 3 ohm carto, the limiter starts kicking in at 5v or just over.

I actually just hooked a volt meter up to both. And the MV VV box does only drop .1 or .2 as Strigoi pointed out. Setting the LT VV on 6V under a load it is only 4.5-4.6 and that is using a HV Dual coil Clearomizer.

That thing drops from 6V to 4.5V???
That kinda sucks. I'd have to keep it turned all the way up all the time. Might as well just use a 6V fixed.

Yeah, the Lavatube drops voltage... Part of it is a safety measure (doesn't allow more than about 2.5 Amps, I think). But it also drops voltage as the battery voltage drops (as it gets depleted).

The first one is kind of understandable. Doesn't really become an issue unless you're trying to use LR cartos on it.

But the second one is just poor design. It should be delivering what it says it's delivering, not some unknown lower amount depending on how much power is left in the battery.
