My first vv device i went cheap and bought the vv madvape kit mind you i new to all of this as i'm no modder.
Well it worked when i was done and a few burnt fingers from soldering it all together im used to soldering wires on postwar lionel trains and nothing this tiny.
Here is what came in the kit but im wondering what the life span might be with these.
I had it for a week so far no problems and vape it daily and the 2x 14500 batteries cut out each evening i charge them for the next day of vaping and in mean time use my other PV i have.
Anyone have an idea how long it may last with that kind of use and thanks in advance - i know its nothing fancy .

1 - Predrilled 3xAA Battery Box
1 - Spacer
1 - 50k Potentiometer
1 - 8x8 sealed tactile Switch
1 - 510 sealed connector
1 - NCP 630A 3 Amp Adjustable Regulator
2 - 10k ohm Resistors
1 - Battery contact with red wire
1 - Black wire

Rogue i was thinking exact same thing a volt meter, not sure if it would fit in there as things are pretty snug as is . I would need a schematic though as i dont know didly squat otherwise. :)
But its a pretty neat little vv device for `17.99 otherwise !

Now im thinking of getting the regulator board setup kit for 7.99 and a different box for a single 18650 battery and searching the forum to figure out if a volt meter would work with that setup, maybe even a led light as well but im just a noob when it comes to wireing but it would be fun once i see a diagram.

Hi BJ,
Im cracking up i open up link and almost choked on my own PV. I would not know where to begin soldering on the needed wires for that.
I can solder but when it comes out to figuring electrical connections grrr, i was able to follow the detailed pictures and instructions on the vv madvapes box but without them im really lost.

FYI: even using 18650, you will need 2 batteries for MV VV. eBay has a 2 18650 DIY box that a number of modders here have used. This box is set up for parallel battery connections and will need to be modified for series battery connection to use with MV VV board.

Using the LM2596 module (eBay) is MUCH simpler than even the MV VV. There is a IN+ & IN-; a OUT+ & OUT-; that's it. You can wire it like this:
batt+ to switch
switch to IN+
batt- to IN-
OUT+ to atty center post
OUT- to atty body
[be sure, if you get one, that the LM2596 module outputs 2A(or 3A). Some on eBay are designed for battery chargers and those only output ~0.6A]

BJ included a PT option along with a switch to select battery or PT power.

Check out Mamu's Dena instructions for an idea in hooking up the volt meter.

Allso madvapes has the volt read out or check ebay for other sizes and colors you can get a different vv module off ebay or other boxes to put it in the merlin box imo is the best looking 2x14500 box mod out there but the box is like 14$ i got mine in the mail this week
here are some links and i know there is other sizes and shapes and what ever but just some where to start looking

Hi Tom please bear with me several questions .

Battery + to one of the switch wires
Question if i read right is it the other switch wire that goes to the In + ?

Last question the vv pot screw needs no wireing its already wired from the looks of it ?

If thats all there is to it im good to go short of ordering the proper LM2596 and the case.
An option for me would be the volt meter once that part is figured out.
All the above would really be much simpler than that madv box - wow.. lol

Sounds like you got it. Batt+ to switch post, other switch post to the modules IN+.
And the pot is already wired into the module; everything is, LM2596, pot, capacitors, resistors, inductor; the works.

Thanks goes to Mamu and BJ43 for finding and implementing these modules!

FWIW, getting a voltmeter crammed into a 3xAA box using the MV VV board is possible. It's a very tight fit, but with a little cutting and creative placement of the the board, it is do-able:

I'd love to build one of these with the switching regulator, but I've some concern that I'd have to go to a 4xAA box if I wanted to keep the meter on-board.

HTH...

Oh so i go to Ebay and look around and thought i was looking at the board BJ mentioned , after rereading this thread its not the same one its 6 mm shorter and about 3mm less wide.
Bj or anyone can you tell me if i made a boo boo ?
Is there a difference ?
Thanks.
I have bought from several sources and they have slight differences. Post the ebay one you bought, is it a LM2596?
