I love miniaturized mods, so I thought I would make a flashlight mod with variable voltage, based on Donptal's Poorvari circuit and using 2-14250 batts for power. Here's what I started with:

MXDL 1-AA LED Flashlight

It was a very good little pocket flashlight, keychain and all. It was almost a shame to tear it apart, but we must make sacrifices for our art, mustn't we?

Anyway, I pulled the Cree LED cartridge out, stripped all the parts from the PCB and rewired it.

It was a really tight fit, but I managed to get it all in the flashlight head. I filled it entirely with my new hot-glue gun and let it cool for 1/2 hour. Here is the result:

Beautiful, isn't it?

Actually, something musta shorted when I was stuffing everything into the tube, for I had a really good 7.4v tube mod. No matter what I set the pot for, it was always 7.4v

It's not a total loss, I will use the tube for a simpler mod. Bummer of the night!
