this is going to be a touchy subject as everyone has their differences. I choose VW if i had the choice just so you could dial it in wherever you want it. Whenever you change the voltage the wattage will be set based on the volts you set. at least on some mods this is true. Wattage is current so i like to change the current delivered to the atty. I'm happy with the voltage that is coming out of the battery which is usually around 3.5 if you take voltage drop into consideration. also i like the VW so when i build my coil i can do a quick ohms law formula and find out where i want my wattage to be to get a clean cool vape......so if I'm metering 3.5v and have a 1 ohm coil i need around 8 watts to give me a good hit......if I'm cloud chasing i can go up as long as my wick can keep up

But just look for the mod or ecig you want and don't get wrapped up too much around the VW or VV. if it has one then you can at least set it to what you want when you get it to get the vape you want at the end. i honestly don't like how some mods come with both. one or the either is cool as they are both gonna do the same thing.....which is raise your current.....

just my 2 cents though

My regulated mods only have variable voltage. I don't believe I would ever use variable wattage even if I had it.

I adjust the voltage to whatever flavor I'm using at the moment. Each flavor has its own "sweet spot" voltage where the flavor is most prominent. I tend to change flavors 3 - 4 times a day for variety. Variable wattage mode does not take into account of needing to adjust to different flavors so I wouldn't use it if I had it.

From what I understand, variable wattage is useful if you know you prefer vaping at a certain watt, say 8 watts. If you happen to have a variety of juice attachments of different resistance (ohm rating), no matter if you change from one to another, the variable wattage mode adjusts automatically to fire at 8 watts. Since I purchase my juice attachments within a certain resistance (2.5 - 3.0 ohm), I don't need variable wattage.

Variable voltage and variable wattage are just two ways to get to the same place, the perfect vape.

I agree with baditude, but I typically stick with VW if I have the option. I really don't know why. I use 3ohm cartomizers, mainly. I'd adjust my settings just as much with direct voltage or watt control. I probably stick with VW cuz it may be one less click to get to my desired setting with the 0.5 watt and 0.1 volt increments. I'm lazy...

Just by reading your post, I know that you already know what current actually is, but just to clear it up for newbs and non-electical savvy people, current is measured in amps. Power is measured in watts. Energy is measured in volts, and resistance is measured in ohms.

Wattage is what you're manipulating with resistance, voltage, or your VW control, which you have to rely on the chip in your PV to do resistance measurements to adjust voltage to reach that watt setting. Watts are the measurement of power or heat generated in a circuit.

Current is manipulated by voltage and resistance. Resistance will play a larger roll in current output. A lower resistance will have more current drain on the same wattage of a higher resistance.

Ok, so I read the article.. Very good stuff, but I know you cant set both already. Assuming I have decided I want a VV/VW device, what do I buy? Say spend max $250? Any suggestions? I'm looking for a mod to stick a 91% on. When I can find one. lol

I am some VV devices. I have no interest in changing since it is doing every thing I want out of a big battery device. I use Provari and I don't think I could be any happier in with a big battery device.

Battery size IS important to me. I have really long days and no way am I going to run flat on battery power. So let me get this right, Provari DOES NOT make a VV/VW device? what gives?

It is purely a VV device. It is doing everything I want in a big battery device.

It has all the functions that I want any more just makes it more complicated.

Are you using a rebuildable tank? I have found from my novice experience that these adjustments can help you get the most out of a particular juice you are vaping. To me they represent the "what goes into" and "what comes out of" a consistent vape of a particular juice. The settings for different juices change. I think both voltage and watts are important to control your experience. It is fine tuning your preference on temp heat, vapor production, and flavor... and settling for the best you can get for yourself with your current set-up and juice. Hope that helps. Honestly you really just need to play with it to find the right settings for you and your particular juice.
