So, I am an experienced mech mod user. I haven't used a regulated since I had my MVP2s...and I haven't really kept up with them.
I'm thinking about getting a regulated for better battery life, and so I can turn the thing down in the morning.
I sub ohm around .13 to .15 on dual 18650 full mechanical parallel boxes.
I would never use a series mech box because personally I feel it's too dangerous.
My questions:
How mush of that danger is present when using a VW series box?
If I have a VW box that will give me the 115 - 135 watts I'm used to, how much does the coil matter? What's the difference between a .2 and a .8 coil vape, if you can just set the wattage where you want it?

You're talking about a vw mod, right, not a vv mod? With a vw mod the resistance doesn't matter at all, and parallel and series are practically the same. The calculation for amp draw at the battery is:

Watts (+10% to account for device inefficiency) / battery voltage (use the cutoff voltage, with vw devices that's where you'll have the highest amp draw) = amps

So, for example, 120w on a series mod):

132 (120w +10%) / 6.4 (two batteries in series, cutoff at 3.2v) = 20.625 amps per battery

In a parallel setup:

132 / 3.2 (as the battery voltage isn't doubled) = 41.25 amps total, but as the draw is spread out over two batteries it's 20.625 amps per battery.

Yes, VW...sorry.
So, on a full charge at 120w (132w) you'd be drawing just under 16 amps per battery, and the lower the charge the higher the amp draw because the device is working the batteries harder to maintain the wattage, correct?
Yes, except you'd be drawing a bit north of 20 amps per battery at 120w, when the batteries are fully discharged. If you want to go high in watts I'd recommend a three battery mod such as the Reuleaux rx200 (which is a fantastic mod, and cheap too). Longer battery runtime and stress on the batteries.

Yeah, I saw something about that mod in another thread a few days ago, and I was looking into it.
I don't really like the look of it, but I sure like what it can do...and for 50 - 60 bucks.
I'm amazed at the high powered mods coming out these days with such a low price tag.
I really like the idea of three batteries. I tried to find a triple, full mechanical for a bit. I liked the Vertex, but didn't like the auto fire issues.
I might give the rx200 a shot...maybe wrap it.
You don't know of any triple 150 and up VW mods that are a nice plain stainless or aircraft aluminum, do you?
