Hey ECF,

Just wanted to share!

Its been about a month and 12 days since I have completely stopped smoking when I started vaping. I attended a wedding to day at South Lake Tahoe and we decided to kill some time and stop by Harrah's for a few before heading out. As we walked through the casino floor in the smoke filled area I could not believe how much my eyes were burning! I smoked for 20+ years a pack every day to day and half and never seemed to bother me before. But today I couldn't help to say it was bothering my eyes and pew! I used to smell like that!? LOLOL

Best part of it, my wife said I used to stink like that and the ejuice I use now actually smells good. :D

vape on! :vapor:

That's awesome.. I'm surprised there are still public places where you can legally smoke indoors.

It's state law that restrict most businesses from allowing smoking. Federal lands (like many casinos are on) don't have all the state restrictions. That's how a lot of them get around it. Some states may make exceptions for casinos and bars and such not on Federal land.

The operative question to the OP: Did you vape in the casino?

I think it has nothing to do with Federal lands but rather, Tribal lands may have casinos, as can the individual states as they see fit. Basically, Nevada has traditionally been the one state that has had legalized gambling and legalized prostitution.

Since drinking, gambling and smoking all go together, Nevada, has not successfully restricted smoking in casinos. There have been talks of bans but the casinos usually point out that it will cut into their pocketbooks if people have to go outside to smoke. There are some smoke free casinos as marketing ploys and I have seen non-smoking areas within casinos.

I am curious about that also. My husband and I just started vaping yesterday. We go to Las Vegas twice a year. I would get smoking hangovers. Vaping still feels odd to me, but I don't want to smoke when I go back.

Yes, I did a few times while wifey was on the penny machine. I usually vape where its allowed in public places unless I see a no smoking sign then I don't. So I had my Provari/Vivi Nova in hand. I didn't have any cravings for a cigarette at all.

Tribal lands are federal lands...but also reservations. That's is what I meant by Federal Lands.

There is no Federal law that restricts smoking indoors that I know of. Know of any? Curious since you differentiate for the purpose of this discussion.

Some Tribal lands are privately owned. I can think of at least one tribe in California that bought the land for their "reservation" since they were not "given" tribal lands in a treaty.

Isn't the Federal Clean Indoor Air Act against smoking? Also, it is my understanding that OSHA doesn't want to allow truckers to smoke inside their vehicles on the job. Maybe those aren't laws. Just mandates????

Yeah, I'm not debating fed vs tribal. Kinda off topic. I'm just wondering about Fed regulations, if any. I don't care if it's privately owned...

Things like Federal Clean Indoor Air Act is what I was wondering about.
IDK about OSHA stuffis. I would assume truckers would be covered by company rules, unless they require 2 drivers or something. Then regs get involved. I don't know how 1 lone truck driver that smokes would endanger anyone else. However, again, that's a broader swath than I wanted to cut topically although it's would be an interesting thread.

I was just wondering about Federal land in general. :)

From Wikipedia for what it's worth:
Smoking laws and non-states

In the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands, smoking is banned in all enclosed public places, including bars and restaurants. Guam prohibits smoking in restaurants, but the ban doesn't extend to workplaces, or any other businesses. The Northern Mariana Islands prohibits smoking in most workplaces and restaurants, but no ban on smoking covering bars.

Smoking laws and the U.S. federal government

Although Congress has not attempted to enact a general nationwide federal smoking ban in workplaces, several federal regulations do concern indoor smoking. Effective April 1998, smoking is banned by the United States Department of Transportation on all commercial passenger flights in the United States, and/or by American air carriers.[6] This was long after Delta Air Lines had banned smoking on all of its flights. On August 9, 1997, President Bill Clinton issued Executive Order 13058, banning smoking in all interior spaces owned, rented, or leased by the Executive Branch of the Federal Government, as well as in any outdoor areas under executive branch control near air intake ducts.[7]

So IDK.

I'm a bartender at a restaurant in the casino. There's no smoking in my restaurant thank god! But sometimes I have to go into the casino to break large bills. Every time I do that I think to myself.. Wow cigs stink!!!! And I also see a bunch of people on breathing machines. I feel for them, but I feel so happy that I won't end up like that!

I haven't literally wanted to quit smoking but the amount of people on oxygen in this area is staggering. I just don't want to be one of them so e-cigs has been great for me!!!!!
