Sometime this week I read a post - and I wish I could remember who posted it! - about the horrid vapor they bought at Walmart. The hub and I were there today so I decided to look to see if our store also had added it. Sure enough, there it was. 3 shelves at the end of the cigarette checkout counter, each shelf perhaps 40" long. Top shelf was all Blu products. Second was filled with brightly colored boxes holding vapor, they appeared to be the same kind of things I see at Circle K, all 50/50, 24 mg, 12 mg, 6 mg and 0 mg. The third shelf contained cheap rigs on cards, hanging on hooks.

They were not busy today, it was very hot out, not a lot of folks out and about. I asked the girl behind the counter if the e-cig stuff was selling. She said, "OH Yes, lots of people really want to try it!"

Was actually sad. If someone really wants to stop smoking or just wants to see if it's worth trying, I suspect they will not find anything there to satisfy them and doubt they would find it a good replacement for their analogs. What a missed opportunity for Walmart and for one of the bigger vapor suppliers to get their foot in the door at a major chain.

One of my co-workers was using BLU for the last year, and finally migrated to a cheap Ego battery and CE4 she got from a cousin. I had a Halo Triton Kit I was no longer using after a year and which still works well, so I PIF'd it to her. Long story short, she was running low on eliquid and I told her about the Haus brand (from Mystic) menthol since she has an aversion to ordering online. She actually likes it. She has had Halo menthol previously, so it's not like she hasn't sampled A-list liquid.

It might not be for everyone, but some people do like it.

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree. :)

Do not underestimate the number of people who, when they decide they want to quit smoking, buy an ecig of any sort......and do quit.

Sometimes, because we are advanced here being on a vaping forum, we forget that the equipment is only half the story....the other half is the mind-set......to quit cigarettes. Once somebody has that down, they can pick up a Blu or a starter kit and quite often they DO quit this way.

The answer isn't always buy stuff.....sometimes its "look within".........I know quite a number of people who have successfully quit smoking using what many on this forum would kinda laugh at. :) But so much of this battle is one's psychology, it's not just physical stuff like cravings, clouds, or gear.

I say thank goodness Walmart and other places sell vaping gear, because it is available to people. Maybe they will upgrade to better gear....and maybe not.

The whole point is having an ALTERNATIVE to cigarettes.....having access to that. So many people just do not spend much time online.

Couldn't agree more!!!
Most of us on ECF vape as a hobby most of the people who start vaping do it short term to quit smoking and then put down the vaping gear when off the nic.
Another large group of vapors are happy with the "cheap" stuff.
Those of us with the more "advanced " equipment are a small portion of the people who vape. Walmarts inventory is aimed at walmarts target audience.
(Pun intended)
Besides most of us on this forum started on the "cheap" stuff. I can't see walmart stocking kayfuns, mechs, provari or DNA mods.

I quit smoking on a "e-hooka" disposable manual cigalike. Never underestimate the power of those. I found them at a local gas station and it was enough to get my feet wet and get me started, because at the time I had never heard of an ego or an MVP or a mod.

Also a little side story. I work at a golf course as a cart boy. One of my duties is cleaning trash out of the carts that has been used. I have worked there for 4 years. After 4 years you begin to notice small details.

Without fail for the last year I have found an empty disposable e cig device everyday. It's the same one, for the same person. Hmmmm.

It is my opinion and personal experience that "IF" "Someone" wants to quit smoking the availability of an electronic device to help doing that is more important than the brand or type.

Once someone has tried an e-cig and found they might cut down or stop smoking analogs they will then start looking for better devices.

But if they don't have a source for an e-cig they may never try it. So I'm not sure why you are so upset with what Wal-Mart is carrying. At least they are carrying something.

Is Wal-Mart the place you or some other experienced vaper would or should go for their e-cig supplies? NO.

i started out on V2's and moved to ego batteries,iclear16's and vision ce5's. i still us V2 style batteries,(kr808d1's) with a mix of kanger t3's and esmart clearomizers. simple easy to use and maintain, discrete when needed. Blu and V2 type starter kits will always be there. ease of use is one of their better points. learning about charging batteries, basic refilling techniques, and small form factor are a good start no matter where the journey takes you. most older people like me no longer suffer from shinyitist and gottahavethis. just sit right down with your menthol V2 and i'll tell ya about the good old days.

Its not just wal-mart...I tried a friends Ecig 2 years ago and hated it....I thought, turns out the set up was just crap on an old coil with WAY too many volts applied....she could have saved me from another year of smoking cigs if hers would have been set up correctly. A year later at a good friends funeral I ran into an old friend that had started vaping. His was set up right with "Cinnamon Red Hots" E-juice and I went the very next day and got my EGO C-Twist kit and have never looked back. I quit analogs in ONE day with 24mg juice after trying one that was not set up by a ditzy blonde lol:p I currently drip 3mg to 6mg Nic and tank vape up to 12mg nic. The dripper makes my head spin at 12mg or higher so FYI...If you get a dripper don't judge the experience dripping 24mg juice as its probably going to be WAY to harsh.
Just my 2 pennies....Hope this helps someone:thumbs:

I suppose Walmart and the cigalikes you buy at gas stations may very well serve a purpose. If it's a first step for a smoker then that's great if they peruse it to whatever works for them. What really bothers me are the total scams out there. Just yesterday I handed down my MVP V2 and other old vape gear to a friend of mine that smokes. She told me she saw an ad last year to try E cigs for "Free" so of course she thought what did she have to loose and ordered. We all know how this ends. A month later there was her $100.00 charge on her credit card for more bogus supplies. Of course she cancelled, got out of that mess, but unfourtately it left a horrid first impression of vapeing for her. She gave up on it and went back to buying cigarettes. I really don't know her well, had just herd the story for the first time. I assured her that was a well known scam. Certainly not the norm. I gave her a box of equipment with business cards from reputable dealers. It just sickens me that people take advantage of such a great concept.

If your friend was vaping on that setup and not smoking cigarettes then it was SET UP Correctly for Her. Everyone is different. What one person likes as far as devices, juice and voltage/wattage settings is personal preference. There is NO One Way to vape.

Thats exactly right

Its really a shame, because for most people that buy the ecigs at walmart that will be their last time if its a bad deal. I don't expect walmart to fully educate them about it. So they get home, have problems with it, get ...... off and toss it in a drawer never to me seen again. Its really not a fair shot at successful vaping for them.

Yup

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree. :)

Of course you have to want to quit but there is no question from my personal experience and from talking to lots and lots of current analog smokers day in and day out that the #1 reason they don't mess with e cigs was because a first very disappointing impression of them .

Most desperately said they would love to stop but every e cig they tried was absolutely terrible and they have no intention on trying more.
