The mutation x was my first dripper and I'm happy with it. Although it probably is at it's best as a cloud chasing atty, it is pretty versatile as far as the type of builds you can do and the type of vape you can get from it. You can do a single or dual coil build, the AFC goes from super airy to pretty tight, it has deep juice wells and the v3 has a 510 drip tip adapter if you don't like the wide bore stock tip. I think it's a great choice for a first rda.

as far as less likely to leak - check out the veritas... but here are some thoughts:
It's not a cloud chasing atty, but you can get some decent output with the right build. Flavor has been great with most of my builds.
The deck design makes it more leak resistant and it holds a fare amount of juice.
The post setup makes building a bit more challenging, but its not terrible once you get it figured out (start with a single vertical coil, then play with it - watch some youtube videos first).
With a few exceptions most RDAs dont leak unless you put them on their side. Keep your mod upright and it isnt a problem - vape it dry (so there is no juice rolling around on the deck) before putting it in your pocket and you should be ok - I carry a small ish rag around with me just incase - helps to clean up liquid that seems to inevitably get all over :)
