Want to buy first PV, Need help

Hello everyone,

I want to make the switch to a vaporizer, I'm not too sure on terminology so please humor me for now. (Its the kind I always see with a clear glass liquid filled vial between the mouth piece and the main body.)

I'm not sure on price ranges, my buddy told me he payed $45 for his. I want to get a complete setup, I have also heard that some are highly customizable which would be a bonus for me I would like to tinker with it and swap out parts.

Depending on differences in quality I would probably pay up to $90-100 for a good one.
Currently I smoke a pack a day (Camel Menthol Silver) so I hope that helps determine the quality of a vap I would need.

Oh another important thing, I have tried the Blu & Finiti rechargable dork cigs. They seemed to have a habit of burning my tongue and lip. Another big problem was how hard it was to suck through them, it felt as I was struggling to smoke.
I want to make sure my new proper vap is easy to take a drag from.

Have you visited any of your local shops? Usually they have stations to test eliquid (usually on an ego type devise with a clearomizer). That might be a good place to start.

I just started myself i searched probably 40 sites looking for a good setup with a cheap price, found this guy on ebay. I bought my kit from him friday it was at my house half way across the country monday. He is not the best speller, but he had good prices and constantly adding new setups for good prices. Nix that idea, IMHO. Both the Kanger aerorank and the iTaste SVD are quality products. However, the batteries and charger are JUNK! The iTaste SVD is huge. Unless you see it in person I would not buy it. That's why I recommend visiting a few local stores first just to see what's out there. Then come back here and start asking questions. You could give us some idea of what you liked/disliked about the products you saw, the size of devise you would like, etc.

3. A couple small bottles of e-juice flavors that sound appealiong to me - around $12-$18
4. Replacement coils for the iClear16/30's and Protank 2's - around $14.99-$19.99

Total cost around $85-$99 if you get it all at the right place.

And here's what I actually did:

1. Cheap eGo kit with 1 battery and 1 tank - $24.99
2. Another of the 1st -$24.99
3. Halo Starter Kit & E-Juice - $85
4. Replacement Coils for the Tritons - $19
5. iTaste SVD and Protank 2's - Total cost with batteries/charger/coils/etc - $115-$125

Total cost - $280 - And even though I was able to quit immediately using the cheaper items, it would've been a lot easier had I went with the MVP and Protanks. Of course I now have an iTaste SVD and Protank 2's, but I recommended the MVP2 because I think it would be less of a hassle for someone just starting out. Mainly because it has such a huge battery, and battery life is one of the main things I had trouble with in the beginning.

I started with a starter kit. Specifically a ego-t starter kit. It came with everything I needed in order to start vaping. There are plenty of other styles of starter kits out there. Rather than buying each individual piece out there, a starter kit gives you every thing you need. Only thing you'll need to buy seperate is the juice! Welcome to ECF!

That's batteries. You should have enough left to buy some toppers and ejuice if they aren't part of the deal. For toppers - Evods are good, and Protanks.

I'm sorry, I'm not criticizing you. It's unfortunate that not everyone has local stores they can visit first before making a decision. But, the person who asked the question may have a brick & morter store nearby.

Although you were not able to visit a local store before you purchased, your choice of an 1100 mAh ego twist was a good one! I've got multiple devises (I've been at this since 2006) and a few ego twists (with kanger mini protanks) and they are still used everyday.

^what he says^ MPV 2 is great starter and youll still be using it in a years time because you can use any tank and the battery will last about 24 hours before needing a recharge. So easy to use as well with all the options you need. Im not saying that because I have one cos I don't. Everything I have heard about it is positive.
If you don't like the box look then an SVD will have you looking like Luke Skywalker in no time.

after evod starter for me and the wife. The above set up was the way we went. we still love our MVPs. I blinged up the wifes with sticky rhinestones from dollar store and she loves it. I find the mvp to be a hard hitting (or you can set it up like a small pen style vape) reliable and loads of battery life. I have little love for the iclear 16s but the new mvp shine comes with the new 16b - they match and are a large evod heads imo (should work great). Giddy up with this setup - worked perfect for us. 8months and never an issue with the MVP and we both run aero tanks (protanks with adj air) and evods.

You do need a back up. MVP2 is not everyones size when new to vaping though. A lot of people like the iTaste for the size and form factor - they can take it our an about and feel comfortable.

I agree with kiwivap. The VV 3 or MVP 2 would make for a good starter. And I'm increasingly fond of Innokin. They do good work.

Actually I trhink that is taking on too much for some-one completely new to vaping. Building a coil for a genesis-type atomizer is not always easy - it can be fiddly and frustrating. I also don't see a multimeter anywhere on that list - you'd need one and you'd need to know how to use one. I would recommend you start with something like the MVP2 first, or an inexpensive regulated mod like a Vamo.
The batteries you buy if you get a mod that needs them should be capable of high drain - such as AW IMR or Efest IMR. Those have safer chemistry.
I would say at the least buy an MVP2 which has an in built battery, or a VAMo with 2 x AW IMR 18650 and a good charger.
If you want to do rebuildables buy a mod and rebuildable atomizer but have your MVP2 or Vamo there to use while you learn.

There's a reason we don't straight off recommend rebuildables to newbs.

Again, I gotta agree with kiwivap. Jumping straight into the deep end of the pool could be seriously frustrating and disappointing. Not sure I want to attempt an RBA...

3 months ago I started with a highly review cigalike kit from Smokeless Image Thats after I saw my mom had an e cig from the local tobacco shop. Withing a month I had a larger usb pass-thru battery ( still all automatic batteries}and a couple of clearomizers. Then a 1100 mah VV twist battery a carto tank and a vivi nova mini tank and a small 510 manual battery. Like the manual battery better way better.Now I mix my own juice and am going to order-- E-LVT Mechanical Mod Electronic Cigarette -- from LighTake website . 510/ego is the way to go I now believe. Hope your first set-up works out good for you
