Since becoming able, using a VV, to vape at about 5volt I've reduced to 18mg nic. and have increased VG to 60 to 80%. Thing is it is reducing my Tank Cartomizer life a great amount it seems. I reduced the nic. and PG because it was just too strong and throat was getting raw, really raw. I need to use tanks because I'm driving truck over the road and in city traffic much of the time, safety issue, can't be dripping, much too distracting from traffic. On the thicker juice I've punched a second hole on the cartos and I do a couple of non-fired draws on the thing to not dry fire.

Presently I have the smoktek 2.0 Ohm cartos, maybe I should go higher Ohms?

Wanting suggestions and where to get stuff suggested.

Thanks very much

5 volts is pretty high for a 2 ohm carto, that's 12.5 watts and I'd bet that's the culprit that is killing your carto coils, it may also be the reason you're getting such a harsh TH, have you tried turning the voltage down? I vape 3 ohms at 5 volts and the flavor and TH are great for me with 18 mg juice. Depending on the juice I'm using, my cartos last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. I vape mainly 100% VG, save for a few that are 90% VG.

My suggestion would be to switch over to a 3 ohm boge single coil and try that at 5.2-5.5 volts and see how you like it. Good luck.

You can get both style cartos in stainless. The boges require you to punch or slot them yourself. The smoktechs are available pre-punched.

Something to consider, as well. The standard length boges have a tube length of only 35mm, while the smoktechs are 45mm. There are now boge XXL cartos that are available in 45mm tube lengths but they aren't as readily available as the original boges or the smoktechs. That said, in my opinion, they are a much better vape.

Thanks Andyman,

I'll be going now to look for the XXL BOGEs, other wise I'll punt.

Thank you
Right on, good luck. I think stepping up your resistance will get you where you want to be. If you still have 2.0 ohm cartos, no reason not to use them, just lower your voltage to around 4.4 volts and they should work much better.

Check these out. He refers to them as the Boge Mega XL 3.0 ohm in stainless. Searching through another thread, I came across these as the XXL's. I haven't ordered, so I can't confirm but this is the only stateside vendor that I've found to offer these cartos. Others come out of China. I would definitely contact them to ensure these will fit a dual coil tank. If so, they also have a 15 carto deal for these cartos for 21.XX which isn't too bad.

Andyman and Danielle, thank you,

On the BOGE and/or Smoktek 3-3.2 Ohm do I get the stainless and still I would need to punch an additional hole for the juice, right?

I was just buying some cartos myself at Madvapes.com, they had a few options of the pre-punched SmokeTech cartos. Good luck!

So, I turned down the voltage to about 4.5 and it has taken out the "rip" on my throat quite a bit. Thanks.

Ordered cartos from both CCV and MadVapes this AM in the 3 Ohm range. Stalking mailman time.:)

Thank you AndyMan and Daniele both.
Oh yeah, that's the beauty of VV, if you don't like it where it is, experiment to find the sweet spot. You also won't be burning out your coils so quickly and will see a lot more life out of your cartos. While I know you've been using smoktechs, I'd definitely recommend you giving the boges a shot. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. You're welcome, good luck to you.

I ordered 5 of the BOGE 3 Ohm XL stainless steel cartos from CCV. Hope I'm getting the right ones.

A question. Are these BOGEs, as referred to above, are they Single Coil, I hope, at least I think I hope?

Yep, those are the ones I linked you to.

In a nutshell, resistance limits the amount of power that the coil puts out. So 2 ohms is lower resistance than 3 ohms. With 2 ohms and 5 volts, you see much more power from the heating coil than you do with 3 ohms because the 3 ohm has more resistance to the heating coil. Make sense? With that in mind, once you get your 3 ohm carto in, you'll probably want to turn the voltage up a little bit to your liking.

All boge cartos are single coil as well, you're good to go. Please post back with your impressions.
