I need to start DIY'ing because I can no longer afford to buy the liquids I like since I started sub-ohming. I can go through 30ml in 2 days, which is more expensive than smoking was.

So I have a few questions, and I would appreciate anyone who would take the time to answer them.

1) Best starter kit? Heartland Vapes has one for $60 (PG/Vg/Nic/5 flavors) I have seen others for between 40-50 dollars.

2) Do I need beakers or will regular bottles do?

3) Best source for the highest quality nicotine?

4) Steeping. What flavors need steeped typically? Does heating the liquid speed up steeping? Do I need a magnetic stirrer or some other mixer?

5) Where's the cheapest (USP) VG and PG?

I guess that about covers it. Thanks in advance.

1) The best starter kit is no starter kit IMHO. They all seem to contain stuff you don't need. PG, VG, nic, syringes and needles (lots of 1ml syringes), and bottles, lots of bottles and you're good to go.

2) Regular bottles will do fine.

3) I refuse to answer cause everybody has a favorite that they'd die in the line of duty for. Well, I use Vapers Tek

4) Tobaccos and creams tend to need the most steep. Fruits are shake and vape for the most part.

5) If you're in it to win it, try essential Depot (downside is they're gallons so you'd want to be sure this is for you.

Hope this helps.

^^^I agree with this. The starter kits all have too much "filler" in them. Just decide what items you need, and buy them individually, is my advice.

Starting out I just went to wiz labs got everything there got 3 5ml 3 1ml luer lock syringes a few 14gauge and a few 20gsuge blunt tip needles larger ones for vg and smaller gauge for flavors and a 50 ml graduated cyl for larger mixes quicker than using a syringe for the vg I use max vg mixes, like always the big thing safety is important with the higher mg nic the other things will work themselves out trial and error just start small test then go big

Start out small and if you like it then start spending. Do your research before buying anything. I'll give you a starting point. Pay particular attention to my blogs expecially the blogs on steeping and the supplies for the new DYI'er blog.

My blogs will give insight into all aspects of DYI, from steeping to what supplies to have on hand to a basic walk through mixing your first E-juice.

Then read hoosier's blogs. These blogs concentrate on fine tuning your mix and give insight on additives.

Then read Boletus's blog's. These blogs concentrate on formulation of nicotine bases regarding proper calculations methods for figuring Nicotine concentration as well as safety.

Then read Ginger's book "E-Cigarettes 102: DIY E-Liquid". It is a book which I've contributed to that delivers an in depth easy to follow guide in the art of DYI.

I recommend viewing VPLive Vape Team Episode #82: DIY Safety and bookmark it for future reference. It explains safety in all aspects of DYI.

then read the stickies at the top of the page.

this will explain a lot of the how's and why's.
