O.k. I have a few questions that hopefully can point me in the right direction of a start to rebuilding Vivi Nova and Kanger T3 Heads. And I hope this is the correct place on the forum to ask.

1.) What kind of wicks do the stock vivi nova and kanger t3 use??

2.) As a noob, what wicks should I start off with?? I've see many different kinds posted on the forum,(even cotton balls).

3.) I saw the Kanthal 32 gauge wire on ebay, but where should I buy wicks??

4.) How many strands of wick is the norm for the rebuildable??

5.) Should the coil wraps be tight, and why are six wraps the norm (does this make a difference??)

These are some of the important questions I can think of right now,but I'm sure I will ask more as I begin to start a rebuild,Thanks!!!

1. I believe almost all stock wicks are Silica based

2. I started with SS mesh myself and while it had its headaches, its the hardest to work with, but once you get it nailed everything else should be easier. But for simplicity I'd say start with bamboo, cotton or hemp.

3. I got my ball of Aunt Lydia's Bamboo yarn from ebay. You can get cotton yarn that is untreated at Walmart. Rite Aid and the likes will have sterile, untreated cotton products. Whatever it is, make sure its untreated and undyed.

4. Depends on thickness and coil type. I've gotten away with 3 strands of my bamboo in a small coil, and 10+ in an oval coil. Wick will fatten as it soaks up liquid, keep that in mind. You can always add/remove as necessary.

5. You want them psudo tight, but not restricting the flow of the wick. I hate Vivi Nova stock coils because they are wrapped insanely tight, and i think it chokes the flow causing muted flavor and dry hits. Not sure as to why a 5 wrap would be standard, but i use a 5/6 wrap almost all of the time without even thinking about it. 5/6 wrap was the absolute most I could get into a Nova head with 32 awg kanthal. The amount of wraps will really depend on the resistance of your wire and desired Ohms.

Oh and when you see people mention 5/6 wrap, it means that the coil has 5 wraps when viewed from one side, and 6 on the other.

Hope this helps :)

Nothing better than making your own wick & coil, complete control over the delivery system allows for very specific dialing in to your tastes.

The Bamboo I got was #10 I believe, and I see people mentioned #1/0, though I'm completely ignorant to the sizing of thread. Feel like i've seen mention of 1mm hemp cord too.

With larger sizes, you can take out individual strands. With smaller sizes, you just increase the amount of strands until it fits.

I think there is a thread dedicated to just cotton use, and that would probably have a lot of useful info (I've never actually used cotton, just bamboo, though I was just at rite-aid 30 minutes ago...should've picked some up!) so I'll see if I can find it.

Don't think this is the one I was thinking of, but 16 pages should probably have some answers :p
