Want to start vaping, but where to begin??

My ultimate goal is to quit smoking cigarettes. Right now I spoke about a pack a day. The other day I bought a Blu disposable in menthol and it was disgusting. It tasted like burnt cotton. Even though my first ecig expirience was bad, I'd like to try using a vape.

I have been looking at what I would need to purchase and I'm completely lost. I do not want to spend more than $100. I know that probably narrows it down but maybe you g u ya can help me out.

I know I need a battery (have been looking at ego c twist 650).

Now the problem is what tank to get. I have read that you need to replace atomizers, but are some clearomizers just throw aways that can't be fixed?

If anyone could break this all down in idiots terms that would be great ;)

Hello and welcome. :toast: Ce4's are generally throwaway clearomizers, probably want to stay away from them unless you find them pretty cheap. I'm not sure about where to get a best deal right now, but there was another thread a noobie was getting what appeared to be a good deal. I'll hunt it down and post the link back in this post when i find it, in the meantime someone may come up with something better.

EDIT: The deal I was thinking of didn't have an vv battery, so i'll skip that. Can't go wrong though starting out with a couple of these.
https://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/evod-650mah-variable-voltage-blister-pack-starter-kit.html You'll need an extra battery anyway. You'll also need to get some liquid and it'd be a good idea to get some extra coil heads. I'd get the low resistance. https://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/kanger-evod-coil-replacement-heads-5pk.html

If your completely new to e-cig I would suggest an MVP2 with either a Protank 2 AND air flow control base or Aspire Nautilus. The biggest part you need to find, the part that will help or hinder your transition, is the juice (e-liquid). You need to find one you like, so I'd suggest looking at a local vape shop for that as you can sample them before you buy :)

For absolute beginners, I always recommend the EVOD 2 starter kit:

New Authentic Kanger Kangertech Evod 2 EVOD2 BDC Double Starter Kit 650mAh | eBay

This comes with 2 batteries, 2 clearomizers, charger, bunch of replacement coils. Some people start here and never need to go any further since it's a very solid starter kit.

If you want something with more power and longer lasting battery, ECF will agree that Innokin MVP2 starter kit is a very good option:

Innokin Itaste MVP V2 0 VW Starter Kit with 2 x iClear 16 or iClear 30 Tank | eBay

Bigger battery and adjustable wattage to situate your vaping style.

The two links above will both get you started with equipment, but the real concern is what juice you need, because the juice is truly what keeps ex-smokers vaping.

The ultimate best bet for finding your personal flavor palette is to find a nearby vape shop that has a "vape bar". This will allow you to sample different flavors (and possibly nicotine levels) to find what will satisfy you enough to not want another ciggie. If you like, you can buy right then and there. Vape bars are an extremely important converting feature in the vaping world.

If you cannot find a store that has a sampling bar, your next best bet is to order a sample pack online. There are many vendors that offer these. Two that I am currently sampling are Seduce Juice and ITCVapes (not promoting, just fresh on the head). If you smoke a pack a day, I'd recommend "12mg" nicotine, which is basically a "medium" percentage of nicotine in your juice. If it isn't cutting it for you, you might need to head up to 18mg, or even 24mg. Online juice is basically endless, but after some trial and error, you'll find a vendor and a juice line that fits you perfectly.

Btw, fire off any other questions you have - I work overnight and always have ECF up in the background :vapor:

I just got started this week. Tried the Blu's and other gas station ecigs but they just werent cutting it for me.

Walked into a B&M vape shop and told the guy behind the counter what i thought my needs are and basically just let the guy make recommendations.

The only thing i really knew for sure was that i needed the highest nic percentage that he had available, judged that by my epic chain smoking abilities.

I walked out with : an Innokin Cool Fire 1 mod. It came with an iclear 30b clearomizer, also bought a nautilous 5ml clearomizer, two batts and a charger, a 5 pack of replacement atomizers and a couple of vials of 24% juice. I spent a little over $100 on this but was going to buy extra tanks etc eventually. Have bought more juice and another tank since my initial purchase. Would like to have one tank for every flavor.

Have also ordered a mod extension so that i can run the 18650 batteries (they are longer) in place of the 18350's. Bought a few more batteries also. Next purchase will be a smart charger with more slots. Mine only holds one batt. Am constantly charging a battery. Have 1-700mAh and 1-800 mAh, neither lasts me more than a few hours. The 18650's should last quite a bit longer.

Dont know if i got a great setup for the money i spent but im happy with it and everything is working as expected. Probably will be more upgrades and more expensive mods later on but for now, im extremely satisfied.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

    No you can't
Being brand new, I suggest looking for a local vendor first where you can try out different flavors and pick up a small amount fist of a few also must folks start out with carto because it's easy to refill but it won't be long before you go into tanks etc. A local vendor can be a big help when starting out.

    You'll need to start out.
    1. A small pen type device that has adjustable voltage.
    2. carto's or tank
    3. Juice with 18mg Nicotine 50%vg/50%pg

You also want a second device as a backup just incase of failure.

IMO: the hardest part is finding flavors that you like.

Don't spend to much money on one thing to begin with until you try it out in your comfort zone a few days.

After a little while you get the hang of vaping, it's a learning curve.

Startup cost should be around $50.00 give or take a few dollars.

Thanks everyone. I actually went ahead and placed my order before I even read replies. I'm impatient. Woops.

I haven't had a cigg since 7 pm yesterday but I caved and bought a a pack since I rally needed my fix and the Blu was just nasty and not cutting it.

Also, dumb queston but are you supposed to inhale like a cig?? Every time I used the blu it would catch in the back of my throat and make me cough. I never had that problem with ciggs.

    I bought from my vaporstore.com
EGO-C-TST-0002 Joye eGo-C Twist Variable Voltage 650mAh Battery - Black
ego-char Joye eGo Rapid USB Charger
    1
Mini Kanger Protank - II - Red (Mini)
Atomizer Head for Kanger Tanks - Single Coil - 2.4Ω/ohm

Does that seem ok for first time user??
I also bought 2 10 ml of liquid.

If you are like me you are going to need more powerful (energy storage) batteries of the 1300 up to whatever you can afford and at least three of them. Need to have a min of two to get through a full day but you will probably (like me) find a way to break one so be prepared..

I suggest a Vision Spinner or there is even a Tesla 2000mah spinner on eBay for something like 18 bucks. Standard size AeroTanks can be had for under 15 bucks and a Mega for just a little more.

If I was to do it over I would by one Spinner for a back up, Vamo 5 with separate batteries and charger with a Mega to top it off. maybe an extra pack of coils. With hawkish online shopping this can be done for about a hundred bucks.

Ya, that's normal. That's what we're referring to when you hear someone talk about throat hit. If it's too much however, you can reduce your nicotine level to lessen this. It's also normal to get used to it.... desensitized over time leading to new and creative ways to get it back :vapor:
That's not a bad set up to get you started, though like many have said.... you'll most likely drain that battery quick. I would suggest you get a second, and possibly a second with a higher mAh rating. FYI, simply put... the larger the number in front of "mAh", the more time you can vape.

I think the setup you bought is just fine to get you started, but you will probably want another battery. Your 650 battery will need to be recharged pretty frequently, and while it's on the charger you're pretty much out of luck, and it takes several hours to charge.

#1 rule around here: backups, and backups for your backups.

I have to, whole heartedly agree. the MVP/PT2 is a fantastic combo. The Kanger V2 is a little more $$, I paid $21.11 on ebay out of California, but already has air flow adj and dual coils. Either way, under $65 and a battery that goes 2 days without recharging. You can also vape it & charge it at the same time sitting at your computer, I do !!!
