Aloha!

As the subject suggests, I want to try out dripping... I have been doing a lot of DIY, making several different flavor combinations, but I really can't try them out without washing out one of my clearos (I have a lot of vision 2.0's and T3's) letting it dry, and loading it back up, then starting over again.

I'd really prefer to use a dripping atty that will allow me to quickly transition from one flavor to another, and get a much better idea of the flavor I am experiencing.

I'm a pretty fast learner with most of this stuff, and already build coils, and rewick all of my T3's, Vivi Nova and Vision 2.0 heads, so I am not opposed to ANY rba's (regardless of how advanced they may claim to be, I'm an engineer pretty sure I can keep them from shorting out :) ) Also not opposed to the HH.357 atty's...

What I'm really looking for are suggestions as to exactly what I need to start dripping, and getting a good experience right from the start.

For example, I've seen folks using an HH.357, but they also use a 510-510 sealed adapter and a drip shield...

So what do I really need? I do prefer a bit cooler vape so I am fairly confident I want a long barrel atomizer... But then again, I am open to any and all suggestions here. I have long drip tips as well, so anything that will work well, is easy to clean and get a new flavor going, and will last me a while...

If you like a cooler vape then you might want to start off with a 510 2ohm atomizer. It's fairly easy to use and a good start when it comes to dripping.

Before you use an atomizer. You should first blow it out if it has any primer fluid. Such as ones coming from brands such as Joytech. This will effect the flavor that you get when vaping.

Then drip 6-7 drops and let it sit for about seven minutes. This gives the e-liquid time to saturate the mesh and wick properly.

Afterwards, give it a try to see if you get a burnt flavor. If you do then add a few more drops. This should be good for around 5-8 drags. Afterwards, you should drip 3 drops.

To change flavors in between testing. I recommend you drip a few drops of pg or vg into it and vape until the flavor is gone.

The use of a 510-510 adapter is due to the drip shield. So, that it properly fits onto the atomizer so that it can be connected to your device. The main purpose of this combination is to prevent leaking when over dripping occurs when vaping.

Overall, once you get used to a 510 atomizer. You can move on and try others such as an 801 or 901.

Thanks for the info, so used to seeing you moving posts from one place to another, didn't know you responded to them as well! LoL

Guess I put this post in the right spot :)

Any particular type or brand of 510 atomizer you would suggest? Also, what are the differences between the 510 and the 801 or 901?

If it helps, I am using a Lavatube v2 and a Vamo. So would that negate the need for a particular resistance value atty? I was looking at 2.5's, but if 2.0 is best for my application, either is fine with me...

Thanks!

Custom HH.357 Cisco Spec Hybrid 510 Atomizer - Avid Vaper
Been direct dripping for over 3 years.... There is no other atty that compares to the HH357...
For a VV mod you want the 3.0 ohm attys... last longer and draws less amps....
Change flavors...now thats a tough thing to do with an atty... better buy a few for different flavors..

I just bought a cheapie atty for now to try my luck with it... Have a 2.5 Ohm 510 bridgeless atty coming, it was $5 so no biggie... Also got a drip shield, 510-510 adapter and matching drip tip from Empire Mods... And just to try both worlds, I got a Phoenix RBA too... Cause Vape Mail just isn't right unless you have a lot of it coming... LoL

I appreciate the advice, and will likely be back when it all gets here, for more Q&A

LOL

I'm not in liberty to discuss particular brands due a few reasons. There are a few differences between these atomizers. Threading is the most obvious difference.....

510 - generally gives you a warmer vape compared to the other two. It's a bit shorter and smaller in general. Obvious exceptions come with long barrel versions...

801 - Gives a cooler vape, better flavor, and is larger than a 510. Feeding it is a bit different in terms of the number of drops and the amount of time that it takes before it needs to be re-filled.

901 - Coolest vapor produced by all atomizers. Also gives the best flavor as well when it comes to fruit/dessert flavored e-liquids.
Lastly, it has a little air hole on the side of it which led to the creation of the drip shield. Since it was known for leaking. Feeding is also different with these atomizers as well.

Since your using a variable voltage APV. You have been looking at the right direction. My suggestion would be a SR/Standard Resistance (2.8-3 ohm). That way you can utilize the full span of voltages that your LavaTube can produce. Originally assumed that you were using an unregulated 3.7V device (don't ask me why I thought this LOL).

Hope that helps.

I'm in the same boat, except my requirements (and budget) are lower. I just want to give dripping a try, to see if I have the patience for it. I need something that'll work with my eGo Twist and Vision Spinner. Both are 510 threaded devices. I'm under the impression that all I need is an atomizer. But I don't know if I need/want a "bridgless" atomizer or not. And I don't know if I need a shield. And I'm not *entirely* sure if the ohm rating is even a concern. As far as drip tips, I've got the one that came with my Vivi Nova. Is that sufficient?

I also want to be able to switch flavors easily, so I'll be needing a few of these. Three at least, I'm guessing. I'm picking that number totally at random. I'm also thinking REALLY hard about eventually stepping up to a Vamo so compatibility with that would be a plus.

Bridgeless atomizers are a personal preference for many people. The advantage of this is some feel that they get better flavor since the e-liquid is coming in direct contact with the coil/wick assembly. Disadvantage is the possibility that the atomizer won't hold as much e-liquid. Requiring that you fill it a bit more often compared to an atomizer with a bridge.

Drip shield is only needed if you feel that you need a safety blanket in case you over drip. Really isn't necessary if you drip correctly.

A 2.5 ohm atomizer would be perfect for your spinner and twist. The drip tip that came with your Nova should be fine.

The amount of atomizers that your thinking of would be great. It's always a good idea to have spares in case one fails to perform anymore....also, when your in the process of cleaning as well.
