Hi! New member and 1st post.

I've been using V2 for several months now. I've tried most of their flavors, but LOVE Congress. I recently tried their new Liquidmax cartridge and was really impressed with the better flavor and increased vapor production.

That said, I've become increasingly frustrated... I no longer like the taste/performance of the conventional cartridges. The new cartridges are a PAIN - some come apart, some now have a funny taste. Of my 4 new batteries, 2 don't work well with the new cartridge, I want longer battery life and more consistent vapor production. Overall, I'm just over it and want something better.

So, I'm guessing I need to step up equipment wise. I've spent a few hours reading over posts, but I swear I'm more confused than when I started. I had no idea this had become such an art form with so many different options! :)

I'm hoping someone will take mercy and provide some guidance on what I should buy. I'm betting there are some generally accepted setups that are a safe buy for someone like me.

With that all said, what info/preferences can I provide to help narrow down the selection process?

MANY thanks in advance!!

ROAD TRIP... are you in luck. Go to Electronic Cigarette Store San Antonio - Thanks For Vaping ECigtx.com visit them, talk to them, let them show you what is available. Nothing beats hands on demos. You can always come back here and surf the net and forums for more info once you see what they have to offer.

Hit the Road.. :)

p.s. Prices are about normal for a store vendor because of their overhead. Making a small purchase will keep them wanting to serve you and others.

That really sucks about your v2. What would you like as far as features? Do you want to stay within a certain size range? What kind of battery life do you need? I only ask all of this because there is so much stuff out there. Everyone here has what they like, and narrowing it down to your needs may help you find what will suit you.

Here's my advice:

You've been vaping for several months. Are you planning on vaping for years? Look at the cost savings of vaping vs smoking, and look at the cost of a Provari V2. Yes, it's the most expensive VV device out there, but it is for a reason: It's very well made.

If you can fit it in your budget, you won't regret it.

I started with the V2 as well and still use them from time to time. I did some research after my V2 purchase and found out that there is a whole new vaping world out there. I now have a KGO and also waiting for a Vision Ego Spinner in the mail. I love my KGO and can't believe how much better it is than the V2. The KGO uses a 510 connection which is probably the most widely used connection for tanks, cartomizers, attys, etc. Check out some websites, reviews and this forum to find out what will be good for you. Like I said before, there is A LOT out there.

Thanks all!!

I might go visit Thanks for Vaping. I usually prefer online, but they're right down the road from me.

I think I'm pretty flexible regarding size. I'd guess I'd prefer smaller to bigger - just feel less obvious when using.
My guess is the tradeoff with size would be juice capacity and battery life?
I'd happily give way to larger size if it meant consistent vaping. But, I'm also OK carrying spare batteries.

I'd like to eventually end my use of nicotine. But, doesn't look like that will happen soon.
So, not afraid to spend for a quality product.
Re: the Provari... Ouch, that is expensive. Do I need multiple units, or are battery changes simple?
Do hit the button to draw off it, or is it automatic?

Also, I guess I'm confused by the other pieces needed... tips, cartomizers, tanks, "attys"... can someone give me the quick and dirty on what I need to know?

Thanks again to all!

I agree with above. Also used the v2 to begin with and battery life and their shipping snafus finally finished me off. I went to the kgo and wow what a world of difference with 510 equip. You can use many different suppliers as you are not tied to one for all your needs. I now use a spinner, twist, or provari. If you are used to the v2 forum you will find there is very little info about any other products as they like to keep it all about the v2 love fest. Stick around here for awhile and a whole new world of vaping becomes available to you with many very knowledgeable people to help.

Make the Road Trip... :) It will all come together very very quickly. :) Your Nicotine use will drop, just drop down from say 18 to 12 and you will hardly notice it, continue dropping each month. Make the road trip... hahahahah

I think Mustang offered a great suggestion. If you have to opportunity to just go to the store, I would do that. You could still purchase online. Pictures make some of these PV's look humongous.

You get approximately 1 hour per 100 mah of continuous vaping. Ego type batteries (shorter, fatter than a mini) usually start at around 650 mah and up. So you'd get around 7 hours of continuous vaping on a new battery. Time goes down with age of battery. If you use low resistance cartos/clearo's, etc that reduces battery charge. Most batteries on larger pv's are manual- push button. You control the inhale. It's something you very easily get used to and most people find they prefer it.

There's a variety of juice delivery systems and opinions vary. There are disposable cartomizers- you drip juice into the center batting. This is what you've used on the V2. Most cartomizer hold approximately 1 ml of liquid. They make tanks to fit around the cartomizer that hold additional liquid.

Clearomizers don't have batting. You pour your juice into the clearomizer and there are wicks.

If you're new to vaping and still trying a variety of liquids, I'd purchase an inexpensive atomizer or even a few clearomizer (that can be rinsed out) to sample juice. Once you pour liquid into a cartomizer, you're pretty committed to that liquid.

provari is a jump all the way to the top but not necesary

yes you should have more than 1 battery with you...... in theory one vaping, one charged or charging at minimum (why most kits come with 2 batteries) alot of people recommend the ego twist, the kgo, or the vision spinner which are all good choices.

tips: make your pv look fancy
cartomizers: what you have with your v2 now for juice delivery
tanks: either used with a cartomizer inside or a bigger version of your liquimax tank with no padding called "clearomizers"
"attys" or atomizers: the most pure flavor form of vaping and also the most maintenance, no padding which means you get 4-5 pulls tops and then you have to drip a couple more drops into it

hope that helps but read, read, read. check out the new members information section here.

So, are the below the basic components? Am I understanding correctly?

1) battery - many sizes, types, power levels and adjustability
2) juice delivery:
a) cartomizers
b) clearomizers
c) atomizers
3) tips - ie. mouthpieces that go on the delivery units

There seems to be more than one standard (i.e. threads) to attach the components together. But many are mix and match because they use the same threads.

Am I correct or missing anything?

Thanks again. Forums like this are the best!!!

You seem to have it figured out.

The most common thread standard is the '510' thread. You should stick with this on your device(battery), because it gives you the greatest options on how you want to deliver the juice.

Cartomizers are the simplest, most forgiving, and noob friendly way to go, in fact.... I'm hitting one of these on my Provari right now:

Crystal Clear Vaping

Cheap and easy.

The KGo system mentioned above is a good way to go for a battery. It's a 3.7v system with enough umph to feed low resistance cartos.

Another great system is this:

http://www.crystalclearvaping.com/C...d-30ml-juice-Free-priority-shipping_p_58.html

Everything you need to get started, literally, it even comes with a bottle of juice...for $60

As for size, if that is an issue for you, the KGo is a little bigger than your V2, the EPower is a bit larger than the KGo, and well.... The Provari V2 with the battery extension cap makes a good fist weapon.:D

Go to a1vapors.com you can try out their cartridges without any risk. They will give you a completely FREE 5-pack to try if you already have a battery that is similar to theirs. Plus they have better prices than v2 and their batteries havent given me issue as of yet

I suggest trying it out before you waste more money I mean its free it cant hurt. If you still dont like them then I think you should try the bigger e-cigs. They produce more vapor but they are bigger which is annoying to me and a more expensive investment.

Hope this helps!

I'd go look at the brick and mortar, this will give you an idea of what you are willing to live with. Some people love an 18650 mod, some people like the EGO size, some people want to stick with stick batteries. Until you see the size of them all in person it's hard to tell how big the are and if they will work for you.
I agree with the 510 connection for versatility.
Find a size you like with a run time you can live with, then come back with more questions about specific models. It's really hard to nail down what will work without some basic idea of what you are looking for.

If you are going to cut down your nicotine level and quit all together, that's great! Give it time, and don't get frustrated.

If you are looking at a Provari, and plan to give it up all together when you get to 0 nicotine, DO NOT buy one! These are for people who vape as a hobby.

I was confused when I first started, and also had the v2. I found quickly how much it cost to buy all those carto's. You can lessen the cost by purchasing juice and refilling the carto's you have, so don't throw them away!

After help from the experienced forum members, I switched to a eGo Twist and a Mini Vivi Nova tank. The flavor was much improved. I then got a Splitfire which I like a little better, but replacing a coil is more involved. I have on order, a Smoktek DCT tank, but ordered the single coil carto's and NOT the dual coil version. [I may go to a dual coil later, but that's if I get a more powerful device like a Z Max VW Mod.] Many forum member like the carto tank systems stating improved flavor over the clearomizer tank [Vivi, Splitfire]

I have read several reviews that the Spinner is better than the eGo Twist. I will be ordering one of those very soon. Either the Twist, or the Spinner would be my favorite go to because a variable volt will allow you to experiment with different OHM heads. I have a 1.8 Ω head on my Splitfire dialed in at the lowest 3.2 volt setting and I get tons of vapor out of it. Much, much better than the v2 carto you are currently using. Plus, you are limited to the flavors v2 has. There are many juices out there, so look around at the options available. Some suggestions are, Highbrow, ECBlend, Rawr, Ahusion, and others.

So, yesterday I made the trip (all of 3 miles) to my local shop (Thank's for Vaping).
I usually don't like going into retail outlets. However, this was totally worth it. One of the guys there spent quite a bit of time talking over all the options - was super helpful. I even got to sample quite a few juices (which is too cool), though I didn't find one I like.
Ended up buying an eGo-C 2 XL and CC 2.4 Clearo. So glad I went in. I'm loving it.

Now, I need to experiment a bit with juices. My favorite is still V2 Congress, which I really like. I also like their Sahara and (to a lesser degree) even their Red. I have not enjoyed any of their flavored juices that I've tried (coffee, cherry, peppermint, chocolate or vanilla). I have never like menthol.

I'd assume (especially after reading some of the threads here) that this (my juice choice(s)) will fall into personal preference and trial & error. But, just in case, wanted to see if anyone similar tastes as mine could make recommendations?

Thanks again to all for the help!

I am new to this myself and one that that has helped out alot for me cause I'm a visual person is you tube. I've been watching a lot of grimmgreen's videos on there and I think he does a great job explaining things and breaking it down plus he has alot of content. My second source of knowledge is the wonderful world of vapping. Which ultimately led me here which I happened to stumble on while reading there. I myself also ordered a v2 in the mail and I stumbled on these trying to justify my purchase to myself lol. I'm a week into this and already waiting for my Ego Twist w/vivi nova. :) During this time I keep researching and trying to learn everything I can. Id say its a fun healthy hobby. Good luck and hope this helps.

Glad you made that Road Trip. Finding your daily juice will take a while. You will note that a lot of folks have more than 1 juice in their daily rotation. There are numerous reasons for this. Some have stated that after vaping the same juice for days/weeks/etc that they did not taste it anymore/got bored with it/etc. So be on the lookout for an additional flavor or two. Hit those vendors up for sample packs and try different nicotine levels.
