My first post for the noob. Laws have changed the first of the year in NC where no smoking law banned restaurants and bars from smoking. I went to the local Mall at a kiosk and bought a Smoking Liberty e-cig starter kit. Well I don’t know what type or kind this e-cig was, but I was very disappointed with the product and almost gave it up until I found your web site and ordered myself a 510 starter kit from a ECF recommended vendor. I had excellent results compared to what I paid 2x as much at the Mall. I’m very satisfied with the 510, but the batteries don’t last very long with my smoking habits. I would like to try a higher voltage mod for more throat hit, vapor and extended battery life, but this subject is very confusing to me. I read about the Silver Bullet, Prodigy, The Chuck, Bartleby, eGo, Janty Stick, Chameleon, juice Box, Black Beauty, Screwdriver, Nicostick, gosh, the list goes on and on. I guess to narrow it down, I would like to keep the look and feel of a traditional cigarette that would last all day and provide a bigger throat hit and more vapor that I can use with my 510 under $75. Right now I’m considering The Chuck, but any suggestions would be appreciated.

The 510 is the best look alike for a cig. They have mega batteries that last longer than the regular. I like the eGo because of the battery life. I am going to buy the 5v pt from mad vapes when they get them in so I can try higher voltage. The ego does not look like a reg cig but its smaller than a dime in diameter and the others you mention are around the diameter of a quarter from what I herd. Good luck in your choice.

Hi beerstud,

Welcome to the boards :) I'm in the same boat you are right now. I've been using my 510 for a month but I've become frustrated. I'm looking at the eGo/Tornado and trying to figure out if it's really an "upgrade" that will give me what my 510 isn't giving me anymore.

I don't think a battery mod is for me... they look big and bulky - I'm a little chick. Because of what I do, I am out in public, meeting new people all the time and I'd rather explain something that looked sleek and fits me. Trying to explain something that could be misconstrued as "contraband" *cough* (for lack of better terminology - and I'm not putting any of the mods down, some of them really look like they deliver!) won't fly - I really need something that "fits"...

I too need the TH and reliable vapor production. I've gotten used to having multiple batteries charging and carrying a PCC - but the extended battery life is looking better and better as the days go on and I grow more frustrated.

I'm burning through atties and I'm tired of the fussing, rotating them, trying to figure out why they taste so horrid when I vape on them for any length of time... :( - - I just ordered 5 spare atties that are not Joye - hoping I have better luck... I don't want to revert to smoking! I've been smoke-free for a month!

A beefier atty that's not going to "run hot" and burn up on me would be the icing on the cake of the perfect PV.

I feel like I've turned into a neurotic e-cig chronic-whiner

*clink* Here's to finding what we're looking for!

Have you looked into using a PCC? For about $25 you'll get a case that will recharge your battery on the go. Charge the case, and it will fully recharge a dead 510 battery 4 or 5 times. It will also keep it topped off on charge as well. I charge my PCC overnight, and it will last me all day and then some. I've not had a dead battery since I got it.

It will also hold the atty with a cart, and 2 spare carts along with the charging battery.

Also, pick up a passthrough for about $12 and you'll never look at your wall charger again!

+1 for the chuck. Excellent mod. Don't let the perceived size fool you. It is actually quite comfortable in the hand and looks much smaller in person.
It's 7/8 inch in diameter Not sure what the SB is in diameter, but side by side it looks quite fat compared to the chuck. Also, you would have to research the batt life of the SB, but I can tell you from experience the chuck will run 3-4 days on a charge. Chuck is an excellent choice.
Go check out the supplier forum if you want to get an idea how happy chuck owners are...

Thanks. Have any links where I can find out more about the eGo and where I can order? Appreciate everyones feedback.

Janty (usa.jantyworld.com) sells the eGo. Totally Wicked (totallywicked-eliquid.com) sells the Tornado, which is the same device sold under a different name. They are actually just 510s with really rockin' batteries, so you wouldn't necesarily need an entire kit. All you need to try it out is the battery, the charger, and the atty cover; they'll work with the 510 carts and atty you already have. The atty cover isn't necessary, it just looks nice. So, you could get all of it for around $40, or around $30 if you decided to forego the atty cover. Totally Wicked is slightly cheaper, but they are out of stock on all black accessories right now (other colors are available), but black is in stock at Janty. (I have an eGo, and just purchased extra stuff earlier today.)

I actully order a PCC from Heaven Gifts along with a couple of batteries and atty's . Since they are coming from China, who knows how long they will get here? The Mega batteries won't fit in the PCC, so I'm looking for a second choice where I can improve TH and vapor. I guess you can say I am getting caught up in the technology and want to try everything, but that could be expensive and that is why I'm looking for some advice. I really don't want to go around with a car battery attached to my atty, so I'm looking for something simple.

Best...BTW Hope New Orleans takes it.

I'm so sorry to thread-crash :( But - this is the exact information I have been searching for! Thank you so much, Jo. My main question was regarding the atomizer, as I am less than thrilled with the latest Joye 510 atties. However; knowing that my growing stockpile of 510 atties will fit on the ego...purchasing it the way you explained above sold me. I'm going to place my order now :)

But Remie, you would still be using the 510 attys and carts. I looked into this and didn't think it would solve the atty problem we're having. As far as batteries, the 510 mega battery is great and lasts most of the day. All you would be doing with the eGo is upgrading the battery.

For research purposes I ordered a 902, and adapters for the 801 and the 901. I haven't tried the 801 with cartomizers yet, but both the 901 and the 902 don't have the atty problems of the 510. The 510 has a better TH and the 901 and 902 have much better taste. If I inhale directly into my lungs I get a better TH and a more consistent one.

beerstud - Welcome to ECF! ;)

Since they cut off my access to the world while at work I barely have time to check the forum but as far as I know 510 is yet the best atty out there....

I hope they`ll come out with a new bombastic atty soon as dealing with those carts is pissing me off these days and dripping on 510 atty does not work for me well....

Cheers:cool:

Glad it helped answer some questions for you. :) I'm just passing on info I've been picking up the past few days. I'm not vaping full-time yet, but I've yet to have one of the batteries go dead on me. I charge one of them every day, just because it seems like I should. I'm not sure if they'll last a full day once I completely quit smoking, but I have hopes based on other reviews.

OTOH, I think I *have* managed to kill (or at least seriously injure) my one and only atty (more on the way). There was a point yesterday when I'd have been tempted to trade my eGo for a pack of smokes, had anyone made the offer. ;-)

The Chuck is the way to go. If you dislike something about the Chuck, I'd recommend a Silver Bullet or XHaler, although I have a hard time recommending any of them (or any other "big battery mod") when you only have a $75 budget.

Not only is a Chuck $80, but you're going to be waiting a long time for it, unless you bribe him with an extra $10/$15, making it at least $90. In addition, you need to buy batteries, and a battery charger. That's another $20. When it really comes down to it, any of the good big battery mods are going to run you over $100.

Now, they're totally worth the $100+, so if I were you, I'd save up for an extra week or so until you can afford what you really want. The worst thing to do is to spend $70 on something, and realize you'd have exactly what you wanted if you just spent that $30 extra dollars.

I've heard great things about the eGo, but that's also out of your price range. It also won't get you any higher than 3.7v. It honestly only seems like the new way to go if you want a longer lasting 3.7v 510 battery.

TLDR: Save up for a Chuck/Silver Bullet/XHaler. You'll be happier than if you spend your $75 on something and then realize you really wanted something else.

A few things to note about each of the above models:
-Chuck - the switch is a slight pain. You need to unscrew the atty if you're going to put it in your pocket.

-Silver Bullet - gigantic. It's so wide. It's just huge in general.

-XHaler - I've never owned one, but the switch position is strange. I also hate the colors/designs they come in. You also need to buy an adapter to use the 510, which is the most popular atty. I'll never understand why someone would make a mod specifically for the 3rd and 4th most popular atty styles, but hey.

Yep!Wif da SILVER BULLET using an 18650 2600mah battery@3.7v,you'll still get 2+days on a full charge. The CHUCK is a very good mod that holds its own against all commers and at a fair price. No one would go wrong by buying eather mod!!! the SB is by no means gigantic, a little larger diam. than CHUCK, but also shorter than CHUCK. I guess it all depends on the size of you hand!! it fits just right in mine!!!
