Rep. Lynn Jenkins Calls for 'Great White Hope' to Thwart Obama, Democrats -- Politics Daily

Excerpt from the article:

"Republicans are struggling right now to find the great white hope," she told the crowd. "I suggest to any of you who are concerned about that, there are some great young Republican minds in Washington."

Jenkins spokeswoman Mary Geiger told the Topeka Capitol-Journal that the congresswoman was talking about "bright lights" in the Republican Party. She meant "nothing more and nothing less," Geiger said, adding that Jenkins regretted her choice of words.

Im sorry, but I find it a little hard to believe she didn't think about her choice of words and use a brain cell or two to think, "Hey Maybe I should not say this". To me at least, thats like comparing...err Im not even going to get into that.

I just want a better hope for Republicans (as in, going back to what they were supposed to be, not what they are today), white or not, who gives a ****?

This is why don't know WHAT I am anymore...ha. Who wants to be associated with these dim wits anymore? Any of them, any party. Time for me to move to Costa Rica.

Yep. "Great white hope" started in 1910 when the search was on to find someone that could beat Jack Johnson in the boxing ring.

After Johnson's victory over Burns, racial animosity among whites ran so deep that even a socialist like Jack London called out for a "Great White Hope" to take the title away from Johnson — who was crudely caricatured as a subhuman "ape" — and return it to where it supposedly belonged, with the "superior" white race.
