I love my 401 and I'm pretty fond of my VX2(J-118) and I even like my Blu.... but all of them have a problem. I take them to the club or to a concert and the batteries run all the time. They're noise sensitive, yes -- some batteries are better than others, but I'm worried I'm going to burn out atomizers.

Keeping the pieces separate does preserve the atomizer, but does nothing for the batteries. I took 7 batteries with me tonight, kept them all in their case when I wasn't actively using my PV, and was gone eight hours. At home, I'd probably use two batteries in that time. By the time I got home, I was on my last battery, and I wasn't vaping much -- too busy dancing.

So... is there a solution? Will a manual switch battery do the job? If so, what models are available? Any for the ones I have?

Okay, it's kind of pricey, but it should survive an all night rave: Buy one of those Gamucci disposable e-cigs or e-cigars. I don't really like the taste of Gamucci stock juice, so I would consider trying to empty out the juice it comes with and replacing with your own. The included cart is very large and it should last you a good long time. Best thing is that it is disposable so you don't have to be careful about losing it, breaking it, etc. Leave your fave PV at home. Battery is supposed to last many hours of vaping before it quits.

Just get a 510 manual switch. You'll have to refill frequently or bring 8 or 10 extra refilled carts and probably three battereries, but that'll do the job. Also, there's enough positive press here on the forum that you know it performs pretty well.

It also seems like competition among the suppliers here has driven the price down to reasonable levels in the last couple months.

If you're set on your M401, I've read that DSE401 batteries will also fit, and they are not sound activated. The only place that I know of that carries them is esmokershop.com. I don't have personal experience with the DSE401s, maybe someone else here can give more info on them? I know they discuss them in this very huge, informative thread: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...te-reviews/4523-m201-402-my-dream-e-cigs.html Or you could contact esmokershop to confirm what I've said.

I just got one of the j108s from cigtechs.com I love it... has a little less throat hit than my 510, although the vapor is about the same, but the PCC is much nicer than the one for the 510. It is a bit sensitive but suction operated, so far I've only had it turn on for a second or two right when I put it in my pocket or when changing out a cart.

NO SCREWDRIVERS. I'm sorry, it may sound vain -- no, it does sound vain -- but I've got just the right level of geek-tech cred. I am not sticking something that looks like a phaser in my face. (Sorry, and this is totally my opinion and no reflection on anyone else's taste, but I find Janty's products clunky and lacking in elegant design... and if I'm paying a premium, it should look like a 1st year design student came within a few hundred yards of it.) I'm not terribly keen on the pen-styles, either, for the same reason.

I think I'll just look for manual switch batteries.

As for worrying about taking it out and losing it -- I'm not. There's a lot of stuff I've never lost at a club, mostly because my drinking doesn't exceed my liver's capacity to keep up.

And while the cigar idea is good... and thanks... I'm girly enough to be unenthusiastic about cigars of any sort.
