As the Title states, I have been wanting to get into mechanicals for awhile now; however I do not have a vape shop near me that has any mech's. I really would like to be able to have some tactile feel for what I am buying. Weight is generally not an issue for me at this point since I am so used to my Modded VTR and a kayfun lite/lite+ on it. Also noting that I am not looking to spend an exorbitant amount of money on mech's, I would just like a couple to use with some of the rda's I have sitting around not getting much use.
TL;DR
Wanting to get into mech mods; doesn't want to spend a lot of money.
I am willing to get clones if they have positive reviews. I prefer 18650 mech's or options for 18650.

My first setup was chiyou 4 seasons clone and a trident clone. I loved them. The trident is so easy to build on and really great flavor, cloud and air flow. I paid around $65 for both. Another RDA that is cheaper you can try is the IGO-W4. It looks pretty basic but nice. Another very popular clone is the nemesis clone. Good luck. You can find clones pretty cheap and free shipping on eBay.

Thanks for the info, I already have a couple of RDA clones to name a few: Trident clone, KayfunLite+ Black Edition, IGO-W, and Crown Clone. I saw vapingwithtwisted420 post a video of the stingray clone and looking at the voltage drop tests I have seen it has faired best in comparison to most of the other clones I have seen tested and charted, where as the Nemesis faired the worst. Although the nemisis clone looks sweet! I'm still diggin the brass/copper look out of the stingray though. What're your opinions on it?

Someone is always selling their clone or even a spare setup. The classifieds here has lots of activity (you'll need to verify your account first) as does /r/ecigclassifieds which will save you even more money, especially if you want to see if mechanicals are right for you. Maybe find a Nemesis clone along with a dripping atomizer. I'd go that route if it's your first.

You don't need mechs to start using your rda's. It's better to start using your rda's with protected power source, and later on if you intentionally decide to subohm, then you will require a mech.

The reason I don't use many of my RDA's is because I only have a VTR to use at the current moment and it looks ridiculous on the adapter tube attached. I was just looking to get a mechanical to start using them again and get back to sub ohming, even if it is just a little by getting down to .8 or .7 . I do have the ring cut off and the side walls sanded down and polished to fit a kayfun lite plus clone on it. So thus, I have a patriot and trident just kind of sitting here collecting dust until I get something to fit it on. Thank you both for the heads up. I will look into the classifieds once I get verified!

You'll blow way past the limits of most VV/VW mods long before you hit subohm.

Some will fire with low ohm coils, but the wattage limit means they can't power the coil properly when they do fire. For instance, you could get an MVP2 to fire with a .8 ohm coil, but the Voltage and Wattage limits means it won't be properly powered. In fact, anything below 1.3 ohms on the MVP and the mod overrules the user settings because either the wattage is over the limit or the voltage is under it.
