I use 30g kanthal 5/6 wraps for a 1.5 ohm micro coil and organic cotton. I use a drill bit or micro screwdriver to wrap my coil.

If you don't already have one, you need to get an ohm reader or a digital multimeter to read the resistance of your coil.

Ohm's Law Calculator - Always use 4.2 for the voltage. Current will be what the coil will draw from the battery in amps. Your coils must not pull more amps from the battery than its continuous discharge rate in amps.

You should be using a high drain battery:

I really shoot to be between 1.2-1.6 in my Kayfun.

I tried the "Double Barrel" setup for a day or so in it, but got worried that it was getting too hot in there. (afraid to melt the gaskets inside)

Also, I do setup my coil/wick at a 45 degree angle between the screws. Not sure if it makes a ton of difference, but I feel like I don't get dry hits when it's setup that way!

i do the double barrel 10 wraps per coil and that gives me 1.4 to 1.6 ohms, great flavor and clouds of vapor i love it.
vape on

I've been temped to try the double barrel just for the heck of it. I currently use 32 ga with 10 wraps on the 5/64th DB which is a nice vape with nice flavor.

Do you own a clone or the real deal? I have the Hcigar 3.1, well make that 2 of them as of today! I love it but I don't want to damage the device or melt the insulators.

vapmad,
I understand you are new to using an RBA and that's great but you really need to research ohms and coil building before you jump in and do something that could potentially harm you

NEVER and I repeat NEVER just build a coil, throw it in a RBA and just assume you're good to go

I personally have built many coils but have never used one without first checking its resistance
