I found this forum after doing some searching on that darn FSC. I have always heard of E-cigs but never thought about trying them. My head is spinning while typing this so bear with me (just smoked one of those FSC things). I would like to know where to start? I looked at the stickies but I couldn't even grasp the terms lol What is a good starter pack for a newbie as being that I don't even have the device yet?

I got a joye 510 starter kit. It cost me £40 (english pounds :D) and that came with bottle of juice, 5 pre-filled cartridges, 5 empty cartridges and charder, 2 atomisers and 2 batteries from juicycigs.co.uk.

I found this a good starter, as
a) it works :)
b) It has all the bits that people refer to in their posts here, so it helps understand the terms and expressions used.
c) it work :D

I hope this helps, by the way the apple juice is absolutely wonderful. If you look at my thread (Have I bought a good one?) then you will see my journey upto now.

If you want something simple and maintainence free then get a KR808D-1 kit, also know as the Vapor King and many other names, it's a simple 2-piece e-cig you screw the cart onto the battery and vape it, that's all there is to it. 3-piece e-cigs like the 510 require you to use another piece between the cart and battery (atomizer) which you have to keep buying extras and maintain them.

You would have to experiment with carts though, as they come in many strengths and flavors, 18mg / 24mg would be a good starting point...

You'll get pointed to Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Smoking a lot... they have a huge selection in kits and flavor carts (just avoid the kits where it says they have the older 5 second cutoff batteries and you'll be set).

If you have any questions they also have a very active subforum here too :

I am also a KR8081-D fan and chose Vapor4Life as my supplier and have been extremely happy. You should read the stickies at the top of this forum to start the learning process and decide what ecig is right for you. Each type has pros and cons and you need to decide what is most important to you in your ecig.

Some links to must read information.

I promise it isn't as difficult as it seems to be at first with this overload of information!

I just finished the 1 through 6 step reading and I have an idea and now I am looking on the Vapor4life site at the moment. I normally smoke newport 100s and I'm looking for a mg that would get me that same strength.

As reading through the topics I figure I would need about a 18mg. And it looks like I will be purchasing one of the ones from vapor4life the VAPOR KING-ULTIMATE MANUAL KIT includes 2 manual batteries, 1 manual passthrough,
1 USB charger, 1 Ultimate Wall Charger, and 5 Cartomizers..

Does that look like a good one? I don't know what flavors yet. I still have 2 weeks to decide which one I will get.

That is a fantastic choice to start with, if you want auto batteries instead of manuals all you have to do is let them know in the comments when you order. Manual has a button, auto is activating by taking a drag.

I myself do not like the tobacco flavors, no matter what you get it will not taste exactly like a cigarette. I find it tastes even better and provides the same "feel" of smoking. I was one of the lucky ones that picked up vaping and didn't crave a regular cigarette again. And I LOVE smoking, I just love vaping even more!

My favorite flavors are the desert and fruit types. And I think 18mgs is a great place to start.

With two weeks before you order you have plenty of time to research and ask questions so don't be shy and ask away!

757, I have had my e-cig for about 14 hours now. A lot of info to absorb "I agree". I bought the joye 510's w several different tobacco flavored 26mg nicotine juices. The tobacco flavored does'nt really taste like tobacco "kinda harsh". everything else is far beyond my expectations, WOW. From reading, flavors and nicotine sweet spot seem to be a learning curve of time. I was able to cut my 28mg with VG "glycerin bought at walmart". Big improvement and really stretches the juice.
Not trying to sell ya. Bought mine from cignot.com 35bucks for 2 complete cigs/charger plus juices and empty cartridges = 50 bucks. A very cheap investment. Good luck:)

Welcome to the forum!

The joye 510 is a good choice as a starter kit. Lots of vapor because of the atomizer that is used and because of the atomizer - the thing that vaporizes the eliquid - it is a good choice if you ever decide to upgrade. Plus the starter kit is relatively inexpensive for a mother/college student:

Joye 510 NO BOX

You should also get juice when you start or you'll be buying cigarettes when you finish the cartridges that come with the kit. So:

Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

Or since you're a Newport smoker:

HIGH VOLTAGE Liquid 12Mg 30ml Plastic Dropper Bottles

Choose 'Nuport' in the dropdown. The high voltage isn't the nicotine level. The nic level on this choice is low to medium which should be good starting out but you'll have to judge that.

A cheap way of finding what flavors you like is with samplers for $4 - 6ml bottles:

HIGH VOLTAGE SAMPLERS 12Mg 6ml Plastic Dropper Bottles

With an adapter, you can also try the 'cartomizers' - which are disposable cartridge and atomizers with prefilled flavors:

AltSmoke | Personal Vaporizer Battery Adapters

... and choose:

Battery: 510
Atomizer: 901/KR808D/greencig

I've found that this place has the best flavors for cartomizers:
Vapor4Life:: Because it's your life :: Electronic Cigarettes & Alternatives to Smoking

They also have a 'newport' flavor.

I agree with Taryn definitely read the wonderful world of vaping thread that she suggested..it's long but it really is entertaining and good at helping you distinguish between models.
You didn't state how many of those newports you smoked but if it was around a pack a day you're probably gonna want somewhere in the 18-24mg strength range maybe even as high as 36mg...I myself was a pack a day smoker and I vape 36mg in the morning and 24mg the rest of the day, maybe some 12 mg before bed.
Now back to te devices, the 2 most popular e-cig models on here right now are the 510 and the KR808D-1, both are pretty new user friendly but have their pros and cons. But first generally there are 3 categories that users rate models on throat hit (that feeling you get in the back of your throat when you take a drag of a cig), vapor production, and battery life.
The 510 first off is a 3 piece model (battery, atomizer, cart)...it's drawback is it's battery life depending how much you vape can be as short as an hour or upwards of 3 or 4..carts work well but if you find yourself having to top off often you may have to change the filler material in them to something that lasts a little longer..conversely the atomizer is a little work horse and tends to run a bit hotter so it produces great throat hit and great vapor production..(a side note here some flavors do better on a hotter atty (like tobaccos and coffees) some a bit cooler (like fruits)..
The KR808D-1 is a two piece model (battery and cartomizer (combined cartridge and atty))..the cartos are considered disposeable meaning every time you change a carto you're changing an atomizer too, they can be refilled but not too many times but a pack of 5 cartos runs the same price as a single 510 atty (and they do burn out eventually too)..some report a wierd underlying taste to the cartomizers and some feel they don't get enough Throat hit from them or a little less vapor than the 510, but their batteries last quite a bit longer...
There are subforums here for both the 510 and the KR808D-1 and i suggest you read some of those before commiting 100% to a model...
But some great suppliers on here for the 510 are:
Cignot...$35 kit, fast shipping..
Rocky Mountain vapor..more choices in colors, free shipping over $14, fast shipping...
Nhaler (my preference) couple of colors, $47 kit (but a coupon code so it comes to $49.30 shipped) awesome customer service and fast shipping (like 2-3 business days to get to you) but the thing I like about this one is the kit comes with 5 prefilled carts (18mg) plus 2 6ml bottles of your chouce of juice (24 or 12mg) so it's good helping find your nic lvl..
Suppliers for the KR808D-1:
Vapor4Life...they call it a vapor king... reputation for awesome customer service and has a huge fan base thats treated like extended family.
Nhaler..also carries the KR808D-1..
Pure Smoker.. they call it the Ace..has a reputation for good customer service, and seems a bit cheaper on their kits.

I know thats a lot of info but hope it helps..
And welcome to vaping and ECF

You may also want to look into a PCC (portable charging case) if you vape as much as I do! I have not found a really good tasting prefilled cartomizer yet but some of them are acceptable such as Marlboro. The best tasting to to refill the cartomizers yourself with your choice of liquids. Have fun with it!
