I nearly died last night at work from my 510. I was out on patrol puffing on my 510 when all a sudden I felt something go down my throat. I began chocking I was not able to cough it up thankfully I was able to swallow it. After I recovered and made my way back to my office I noticed a piece of the cart was missing a round disc in the mouth piece. I grabbed another cart and found it was easy to remove this disc. I'm not using this e-cig anymore I'm going back to my M401 because if it happened once it will happen again.

I write this to warn everyone of the very bad and unsafe design of these carts.

I'm glad you're okay. I use the 901 flat-tipped carts on my 510. Still, when using the others I've never had one come off. That must have been a mega-draw! If you like the 510 just order some whistle-tips for it .. they fit more naturally in your mouth and don't feel so unwieldy.

I was wondering when this would happen to someone. I had a 4081 and noticed this about the carts. When I saw the carts for the 510 I wondered if it would do that too. If I recall correctly, I think u can use 901 carts, which are a flat tip much like a pipe or faux cigar, with the 510. That would allow you to use you 510 without worry of choking on loose pieces. However, ask around before ordering the 901 carts. I could be very wrong.

I just checked some empty carts that I have not used yet and they are a different design. The ones I was using were the ones that came with the kit, I just pulled the batting I'm a dripper. I only found 2 of them that had this bad design naturally they were the ones I was using. I think I'm going to order some whistle tips to be safe just encase I have more those bad ones.

I was not chewing on it I was taking a normal puff. It seems that I got some possibly old carts before they were redesigned. I can't find any more of these I've checked the rest of the carts that came with my 2 kits. They are all cylindrical which are not easy to remove unlike the one going through guts right now it was a flat disc. I only had the two it seems, I wish I had kept them to take a picture.

Also on the new 510 flat tips- they don't have ends that can come off. Been using them 3 days and just noticed.

There are at least two types of flat tips for the 510 and the 901 both of which will fit the 510.

The first type is the "0" style where the cartridge is round on both ends and flat on the sides. The tip is a bit wider than the other style and is firmly attached. You can get both the 510 and 901 flat tips in this style at dietsmokes - last I ordered, anyway, and I got an order of them today.

The second type is the "D" style where the cartridge is in the shape of a D and the tip on those is narrower and there is a piece where the hole is that is really small. I've had three of these come out and they come out easily. I happened to get them from eastmall. I would take the center piece out if I ever used these which I likely won't because I prefer the thicker whistle tip. Plus I don't like the fact that the filler is glued to the bottom of the cartridge floor in the D type.
