learn to smoke properly.. dont direct inhale and it aint gonna happen is it...

properly means taking the smoke into the mouth first then into the lungs as a separate operation.. you know the way its been done for centuries.. he he..

i know the folks who have learned to smoke this way aint aware they are doing it wrong but they are.. its a very recent thing.. think about the days before filters and the days of tobbaco pipes.. the days when all sorts of loose bits might get breathed in..

plus with an e cig trying to breath thru a pinhole is pretty stupid anyways..

still we do live in the days of "each to his own".. he he..

I have no idea what any of you guys are talking about. I will check my RN4081 later when I get home. My Joye 510 that I am looking at right now definitely does not have any piece that could fly off. I am not trying to de-legitimize this thread as many have posted in some sort of agreeance, but I must say that some people, more than others, must look unto themselves for behavioral patterns and technique. And I am sure those that lack this common sense are the same ones to look into a rifle's barrel to see what is stuck as well.

And by the way, I think you meant to type "choking." Just for your own future reference.

If you bite down around the edge of the cart, it'll loosen the cap that's there to help "catch" liquid. Some are harder to get out than others. If you use your teeth to hold your e-cig, then that end cap has a good chance of "popping" out, especially if you put pressure on the two tabs that exist on the cap. Just holding it in your mouth will not cause the cap to "pop" out but if it's loose from biting and that cart being used repeatedly for a while, then it might fall out.

So there is a small chance of it being a choking hazard.

I guess I need to learn how to smoke/vape then. I have always direct inhaled. Thats what gives me the throat hit.

This is a valid concern, but part of an even bigger choking concern. Safety standards for many products that will be left around a house include a test on whether a three-year-old could take apart something that contained a part easily swallowed. Bingo. That's an e-cig.

How long would it take a child to pull apart some e-cigs? One of mine has a cart that literally falls out if turned upside down! A small, cig-sized e-cig would divide into battery, atomizer and cart. Of the three parts, the cart is the most dangerous to the child, since it contains poisonous nicotine (maybe not enough to kill, but surely cause a trip to the hospital). Some of those carts are pill size.

And some have filler so loose it either falls out or sticks to the atomizer when the cart is pulled out for refilling.

Government agencies will take note of that. It's an unsafe design, which is why I've argued in the past that the only design that will pass childproof muster is the single-unit disposable e-cig, like the Ruyan Jazz.

The carts have always presented a danger to children. If one rolled onto the floor and was encountered by a crawling toddler, what would happen? The first thing a small child does is put something into the mouth. If the filler contains liquid .. big problem. If the movement is unseen by a parent, even bigger problem!

If paramedics respond, how will they know what has happened? Where are warning labels? Where are ingredient lists?

E-cig design has been fatally flawed for a long time, and this has been brought up and discussed before. Manufacturers have taken token steps toward safety, yet dangerous products remain for sale. This thread is relevant, but just the tip of the danger iceberg.

Again, this.

Even boneheads like yourself are allowed to have an opinion, however wrong it may be. If there are people out there that chew on the cart (even slightly), and the end pops off and almost kills them, then there is a problem.. a big problem. And I don't direct inhale either, but that end comes off with so much force it shoots into the back of your throat where your natural reaction is to try and get it out by coughing, which is proceded by a slight inhale....

So take your "sky is falling" crap on to the "I am Perfect In Every Way" thread and post away.

So what you're saying here is, I'm a bonehead because I think an alarmist thread like this is ridiculous?

Sticking a piece of plastic in your mouth and chewing on it IS A CHOKING HAZARD. I don't care if its a pen, e-cig cartridge, or a cell phone antenna.

So take your "sky is falling" crap on to the "I am Perfect In Every Way" thread and post away.

Let me guess, you believe in warning labels on stoves that say "Caution: Surface may be hot".

Or, from my "favorites" collection, a label on a 5" brass fishing lure with a three pronged hook, "Harmful if swallowed".

How about the application of some common sense, mmkay?

Well, what I am saying is that I have lots of common sense... don't chew on the carts, and it happened to me. What I was actually doing was holding it with my teeth while I let go of it from my hand to grab some juice. The "button" popped out of the end and when into my throat.

Let ME guess... your one of those who goes to a doctor when your arm hurts "when you go like this", and accept the doctor saying "well, don't go like this"....

I guess I just apply more apathy for all people and place more importance on the human life than you. If it kills someone you can be the first to point your finger and say you warned them... its their own fault.

I don't get people that accept dangerous products by saying there is a way around it, and if you are careful, it won't kill you. What would happen to e-cig fight with the FDA if one of these devices was found to have killed someone?

Sorry I called you a bonehead... that was uncalled for... my kids had my blood pressure up already, so I let it affect my judgment.

That piece of the cart is to prevent leakage in your mouth, and it's removable so you can clean it out, and not get a lot of gunk* (very technical term) inside.

Mine only pops off if I bite down on the cart itself. They are wedged in there pretty good. Just be aware of the situation, and continue vaping.

Right, thats kind of my issue with this. It clips in fairly well, there are two ways it can come out:

1) The tabs are bent, and it doesn't lock in, and it loosely falls out (unlikely considering its size, its more likely to get bent like this being popped out, and not sitting in there after that)

2) Under pressure, its squeezed out

In situation 1, its not a problem. In situation 2, its a problem - but the only way you're getting that kind of pressure is by biting on it.

These aren't cigarettes, its a piece of plastic in your mouth, and you should not be biting on plastic - thats the point I'm making here.

Let ME guess... your one of those who goes to a doctor when your arm hurts "when you go like this", and accept the doctor saying "well, don't go like this"....

No, but if I hurt my arm from resting it on a stove, its my own damn fault :)

I guess I just apply more apathy for all people and place more importance on the human life than you. If it kills someone you can be the first to point your finger and say you warned them... its their own fault.

Empathy I think you mean - and I'm sure. I don't feel bad for people doing REALLY stupid things, and I don't even need to warn them. There is NO reason a stroller should have a warning label that says "Remove baby before folding", is there?

I don't get people that accept dangerous products by saying there is a way around it, and if you are careful, it won't kill you. What would happen to e-cig fight with the FDA if one of these devices was found to have killed someone?

Its not about "a way around it", its "What the hell are you doing that for in the first place?!?"

Sorry I called you a bonehead... that was uncalled for... my kids had my blood pressure up already, so I let it affect my judgment.

No worries :)

Actually, i meant apathy, but meant to say that I have less apathy towards people... meaning lack of emotion. LOL.. did sound kind of dumb the way I wrote it, but I did mean to use that word.

If people are sitting there gnawing on their carts then I can see your point. But simply holding it in your teeth is not an unacceptable action for some people to take, and thats what I did, and thats what caused it to shoot into my mouth.

An important fact here is that obviously someone noticed it, since the new 510 carts are harder plastic and the end cap doesn't come out with ease. I tested it and can't get it to happen in the same way as the old carts.

I hear your point about stupidity, and I agree... coffee shouldn't have to say "Caution : HOT" on the cup, but if the cup was designed with a removable bottom that came popping off if you grip the cup too hard.. then ya, there should be a warning... maybe you just don't see my point of view.. which is cool.
