The guys at my vape shop saw someone with a Nautilus clone a couple of days ago.

The noticeable difference is that the finish is brushed and the top of the BVC atomizer does not have steel mesh on top of it. Apparently, the person paid full price for it.

I have seen quite a few complaints about BVC's only lasting for a few hours while I have never had such issues with any of my Aspire coils. Sure, there apparently have been serious hits and misses on their QC in the past, but I have been suspecting that something weird has been going on.

If you have short lived BVC coils, please check inside the top of the coil to see if there is steel mesh inside and let us know.

[EDIT]: The purpose is not to bash clones in general, but to let people know what they're getting and to probe the minds on here to see if there is a relation with reported full packs of coils that don't even last the week and possible cheapo clones.

and then what? I've dealt with a few online vendors who have just sworn back to me that what I purchased was *authentic*, then the whole thing of coils not being returnable, or tanks, if used, blah blah blah

What would be better is a list of places that sell authentic.

OTOH, I was using a protank mini authentic for a while, then somebody gave me one of those fasttech clones called X9, and it basically vapes the same, uses same coils, etc. for 1/2 the price LOL The coils I bought for them however, from a popular vendor who swears they are authentic, lasted 1/2 a day for me. All 5 of them in the box!

You said it works with Protank coils... 2 or 3?

The absence of the mesh wouldn't make it only last a few days

however it may verify it's not an authentic Nautilus coil which is what the individual thought he/she paid for.

This is the potential problem with the "authentic" or "replica" cloning situation---brand protection.
Nautilus' brand is diminshed by poorly manufactured clones. The cloners don't care about protecting the Nautilus brand, nor their customers, only the money they make on deceiving them.

It's no different than me running around in a "Circa Survivor" mask and robbing my neighbors. Your reputation is ruined, not mine.

To be specific: I'm speaking of selling a clone as the genuine article not copying a successful design and calling it an equivalent.
The minute the cloner put's his device in cloned Nautilus packaging--it's not to pay "homage" to the original---it's to deceive vendors and consumers.

Then they should have purchased from a more reputable vendor.

The box my clone came in clearly stated Acro, the name of the clone. Even the label on the tank says Acro, so that people know it's not an authentic. Not everyone sells clones to deceive the public into thinking it's legit.

I'm not saying it's because of the absence of the mesh...

My last BVC coil didn't even make it through 5ml before it started to taste like burnt dirty carpeting. Yes, the steel mesh was inside of the coil head. I think it was purely just a bum coil.

Yep, originals do fail too. Asoire had a QC problem a little while back.

I have NEVER had problems from my Nautilus clone. The BVC coils that came with it worked like they were supposed to do. The clone is a 1:1 match except for the label. Just because something isn't authentic, doesn't make it garbage.

True, but some people prefer to encourage the authentic makers.

Great point... anyone who wants to share can do it here. I wouldn't mind if people also shared about good and bad clones.

I wasn't quite cleat at first, but the real purpose is for people to know what they're getting and to probe member's minds to see if there is a relation with those who report having full packs of coils that didn't last more than a few hours.

Then they should have purchased from a more reputable vendor.

You're assuming he didn't.

In addition, there are many people who vape simply to quit smoking----they're not looking for a "Hobby".

They never watched videos about their Marlboros or went to smoking forums.
Many don't have time, nor the desire to visit ECF or watch the 100's of Youtubers reviewing this week's latest and greatest mech mod, atty, tank, or coil build---they just don't want to smoke anymore.

And when they bought their cigs they never had to be concerned whether they were "real" or the vendor was selling them fakes in a counterfeit Marlboro box.

Counterfeits (not clones) soil markets---no matter what that market it is.
We vapors have our best chance at succeeding with SUCCESS--every vapor's success. Everyone that tries vaping and gives it up because of poor quality (counterfeits or not), unsafe devices, or unscrupulous vendors hurts us all.

Not everyone is an expert like you, nor do they want to be.
But then I guess those folks are just stupid--so let's just blame them.
