Smokes here are $9-$10.50 a pack and between my wife and myself we went through 2-3 packs a day. I don't think I could spend that much on vaping gear if I tried although sometimes I do get a bit out of control. I think once you find your setup and all day vape the cost of things goes down dramatically.

Very true. I am at the point now where I have my pv and back up and now have my juice and just need to refill juice and carto's as needed. I spent a lot trying everything at the start. Now I have my provari( which I wish I bought 1st and my lavatube as back up) A nice tank and my kbv juice.... I am going to start DIY soon but only when I am not in the red

Alot of the spending is uneeded. If your pv works you don't Need a new one. Also buying extra juice isnt needed. Bare bones vaping IS cheaper than smoking.

BUT.

If you factor in just one chemo treatment you might miss, you can go buy a case of Darwin's and still be way ahead financially.

Part of it is what I call the "Kid in a Candy Store" mentality. At first, I was content with working with my starter kit, and the few e-liquids from my first purchase. The problem is, when you start reading reviews, you start to get the itch to buy everything you see. Just keep that part under control, and realize that you can only vape but so much. Whatever kit you started out with is still good..just slow down on the purchases, and you'll be fine.

I used to pay $15 a carton and it would last me about 2 weeks... In the last 6 months I probably spent over 6 years worth of cigarettes

15 bucks a carton? Was that in the 1940s? There over 50 bucks now!

I also dont see how people arent saving money. 30ml of juice costs the same as 3 packs of cigs...those 3 packs lasted me 3 days...30mls last me much longer than that. Once a month I make a small hardware restock purchase (new carts mostly) and thats about it. No way does vaping cost me 6 bucks a day.

Also...you smoke cigars too...I have no idea what the cost differential is on that one.

I'll say it again...some of us have a disease called VEDS...vaping equipment deficiency syndrome. I myself am a lover of the gadgets and when I started vaping in November, this was no exception. I have acquired so many pv's I do not want to list them. But, I'm not smoking and I'm having fun! I smoked a pack a day Marlboro for 25 years and I do not miss them at all. They were around $6.50 a pack when I quit.

Like a lot of people are saying, the savings is ultimately up to you. If you get only what you need you will save.

I started vaping beginning of November. Including buying my crappy mall e cig I have spent $325.

approximately 80 days of vaping. I smoked around a carton a week at $60 a carton

Would of cost me $685 since then.

I have a spread sheet going at home. It kept count of how many packs I smoked since I started and I have saved right around $100 since then.

I do want a provari but I will not buy it until I can afford to buy it and still have saved money.

I read a lot and am spending about what I was on smokes..if I still had been smoking Marlboro's I would be saving a lot of money but I was smoking a native brand tax free that was costing me under $70 a month for over 800 cigs. My average right now is just over $70 a month for e cig stuff (in part because of trying things at the beginning) but has been dropping.

I'm going to buy some stuff in the near future but I think long run I will get it back down and get it under $70 a month average..at least until the gov sticks there nose in and taxes it out of this world like they do with everything they think they can get away with...

I find even if you spend the same amount as you would on analogs, you have more to show for it. My paychecks would always be spent on something that turns into garbage someone needs to sweep up. Money just gone...I like having a 510 set-up and (just ordered a provari). Its the first time in my life, I've gotten a more permanent symbol of the money I earn (Student)

Ya, I use to pay about $15 a carton too, that was in 1970 if memory serves me right. That same $15 will buy two packs of cigarettes now.
Now that I have plenty of PV's, batteries, chargers, etc, etc, I spend a little over that $15 every two weeks for juice, and $7.25 for a box of cartos once every couple of months.

The main reason for me to switch was to save money. I am a firm believer that e-cigz should cost way less than traditional cigz with exception for kits. I see no need to waste money on expensive thrills, designs, mods, etc. Nicotine will come in and out...simple. However, I find that I am vaping more than I was smoking, because its tasty, fresh, fun and freedom to vape inside. That is something I need to control. Sometime I vape normally and sometime I vape excessively. In Oklahoma, tobacco cigz are generally affordable. I used to smoke Marlboro until it became pricey. I switched to Carnival to enjoy $3.50 to $3.75 per pack. On average, I smoked 4 cartons plus a few packs monthly, but less when I was working. The cost was about $150 monthly. Now I spend $40 to $60 monthly to vape. I am very happy with my Clean Cig and Blu Cigs.

I think I'm still saving money while buying stuff all the time. Since november when I started I have bought two 808 kits for the wife, a mv902 kit for me, an epower, a wood mod from ecigworkshop I think, a used silver bullet, probly 50 cartomizers and new juices every week to try. I was smoking atleast two packs of camel wides a day, sometimes more and never bought cartons so i'm pretty sure I was spending between 3 and 4 hundred a month on smoking.
