I have a three year old, four pound Maltese that I adore. Just like Mary Poppins, "she's practically perfect." Last night I noticed that she wasn't nearby (which she usually is - like velcro) and when I investigated, she was in her bed, chewing at a 555 cart, which she had somehow accessed on my computer desk!! I was horrified, but upon further investigation, the cart wasn't punctured and the stopper was still in place. Having said that, I did have a rather sleepless night monitoring her health. HOWEVER, she is not a mischievious dog by nature and I thought I'd better pass this along to other pet owners. Put your supplies in a safe place to avoid a tragedy!

Thanks for that important reminder! Keep out of the hands of little ones too, they are in to everything! 8-o

Yes... Treat these liquids like the poison they are. Keep out of reach of pets and children. last week I had a small bottle in my pocket that I usually take to work with me and discovered half-way through the day that I had a hole in my pocket and it was gone.

I immediately left work and frantically drove home and tore my home apart in the areas I traverse while leaving in the morning but could not find it. Thankfully my dog was ok. I searched my car, the parking lot at work, and anywhere else I had been that day and finally found it under my desk at work in a corner. I now check my pockets prior to putting any juice in there and carry the juice inside a larger container that I doubt my dog could chew through anyway. Even if I had a hole now I would notice this going down my leg.

A couple weeks ago there was a post regarding someone and their family watching their dog die after ingesting the liquid by snatching it from a table. It's very sad and we should all take note from his loss.

Thank you so much for this reminder. I just took a look and had juice, carts and everything else just sitting out here on my desk. I just made a place for all of it in a very high cabinet.

I use a locking cash box. I store of all my stuff it. The key goes with me every where I go, I have a quick little 3 year old at home.

I went and brought a 3 tier tackle box from Walmart, opens up perfectly and the lock is plenty to keep the animals out should it fall on the floor. Very sturdy locking thingy and fits all kinds of juice and carts and bottles and god knows what else I have in there. Hehe. Cost a whole $10 I think. Then again I have a 9 year old who knows not to touch it.

I always keep em out of the way, my little teddy bear(a dog), Cooder, once got a hold of a 801 cart, and I was freaked.

He did get a hold of a VK cart, but, since it is metal, with no filler, and juice coming out, it is much safer, but, not safe enough for our beloved pets;)

Be careful folks

I had a similar experience. I have two pet rats and I had one of them (Gus) out one day. He is very curious and will grab anything he can and chew on it. He snatched up one of my carts (without the stopper on) and tried taking off with it. I immediately grabbed it from him. It was a close call. I had to monitor him for awhile because he is so small that just a little bit could hurt him. He was fine though. I don't think he actually got any in his mouth. I was very relieved.

My pooch would have eaten the metal cart! or at least swallowed it! I don't have children living at home and pooch lives on the porch (don't get excited, it is enclosed, I play with him loads and he has a BIG yard!) However I do have grandchildren. Upon reading the post about the dog death, I immediately THAT EARLY AM (about 2, I think) picked up all supplies and put them in a high cabinet. Now hubby and I keep one bottle of liquid out each and strictly keep up with it just like we did Zippos back in the day!
