Do not, I repeat DO NOT soak your attys in bacardi 151 and try to use them.

Take my word for it. I was using my old 510 titan, which has been sitting on the wayside for a couple months since I got my screwdriver.
Just for s$^** and giggles, I decide to take it out and try a new flavor I just got on it to see if it was any better on the titan.
Anyway, since it has sat so long and I didn't bother to clean it before I put it away.... I decided to let the addy soak for a few hours in Bacardi 151 and set it aside once again. I loaded it up and decided to give it a try ... and let me tell you.. This thang blew flames all the way from the head unit.. melted the addy tip pretty much against my lips... and burnt the hell out of my upper lip.

Titan gone ... Now I am drinking the 151 and lucky I didnt catch the house afire.

Woooooooooooooahhhhhh!!!

I use PGA to clean my attys. But I either rinse them in hot water or set them out to dry over night. I've never had a problem like the one you described. However, you are always better off drinking the 151. Mix it with coke and a little lime and you have a Cuban Revolution.

I'll have to try that Cuban Revolution.. That sounds good.. I'm not much for lime but I do like it in a corona.. never tried it in coke...
Thanks.. Tom

you shouldent soak your attys in anything anyways. if it aint broke, dont fix it. why would you need to use alcohol to get somthing thats WATER soluble out? jeeze:confused:

Another voice of reason here.

I know you'll crucify me but this neurotic obsessive ritual of cleaning , sanitizing, sterilizing with multiple products per day/week of some little heating device that needs no more than a little blowing out or draining has me baffled.
If this routine works for you, or you think is does, then great.
It just seems weird how this has blown into something so completely over the top. This is just nic juice here, what do you think you are getting out of an 7-8 dollar atty?
( for perspective, 1 pack of ciggs here cost $8.50, and that lasted me 12 HOURS )
Whatever... soak , dry, rinse, repeat, stroke , massage, pamper away.

No judgements here ( well, except for that one ), be happy , enjoy whatever you are vaping and think of how good it is to get that nic fix without stinking like a .... !
:D

I don't think cleaning the atty extends the life so much as the performance. I look at it like the atty is a skillet, I don't need to clean it after every use, after all its just food/nicotine juice, hows that going to destroy metal. But starting with a clean surface allows for a better taste and allows for heat to go straight from the metal to the food/juice, instead of first going through a burnt layer.

Why are people getting judgemental over this?

I posted this yesterday, guess you missed the part Rinse with water than dry.

Most people might have one of these fish aquarium air pumps stashed some place in the house. All you need is a aquarium air pump the $5 ones you can pick up at Walmarts. You know the one the make an annoying noise as it's vibrates. These units vibrate like crazy it's just the way they work.
All you need to do is get a small Tupperware container and use some double stick tape or Velcro to attach this small container to the top of the pump. Fill container will just enough 151 rum (or what ever else you'd like to use as a cleaning solution) to completely cover the atomizers. Place a lid on the container just in case it comes unattached. Turn on pump and watch the rippling of the fluid at a rapped rate. 15 min seems to be long enough to get the job done. The attys will be clean as a whistle basically acting as if they were new again. Rinse with water than dry. Make sure to re prime with a least 4 drops.
I discovered this method of cleaning years ago using it as a solution to clean ball bearings packed with thick lithium grease but that takes days and a strong mineral sprints solution.

JUST attach a container on top of the aquarium air pump!

You are making a poor assumption. Not everybody vapes purely water soluble juice. I use flavoring oils in some of my DYI and I also make my own coffee flavored juice using coffee grounds that not only contain oils, but also stains attys. I use PGA to clean them it works just fine.

Some ingredients in DYI can clog and contaminate attys. If you choose not to clean your attys, so be it. But not everyone has the same vaping technique that you have.

When absolutely necessary to clean my attys, I soak them in Grain Alcohol, and let them dry. Never had a problem.

I had two with a nasty juice taste. Soaked them for a week, and they came out "Daisy Fresh" The secrete is drying them out before using them.

Well, I was a little impatient on my part.. at work, and really needed a stress breaker.. you know those moments when you are about ready to pick up the bosses desk and hurl it with him across it through the window from the 127th floor skyrise. Anyway, battery went out on my regular mr. reliable and I used that 510 in the office.. so, when it got replaced... I just left it in my usual spot at work. Then, all hell broke loose.... and now, I have decided to keep a serviceable unit ready at all times in my office so that I will always have a back-up.. that is clean and dont feel the need to use 151.
By the way, I do use some additives of my own that do require a little more than water to remove build up for the purpose of clean flavors.

P.S. .. One heck of an office convo... tho

I used to get like that years ago. I've mellowed with age. It takes a lot to set me off now.

If you're working in an office environment, I agree with keeping a back-up in your desk. I travel for a living, and when I don't fly, I use my car. I have a passthrough in the car at all times. It stays velcro'd to the dashboard, and a small bottle of juice in the console.

If you had a permanent set-up at the office, you wouldn't have to worry about forgetting to take something with you to work on a busy day.

As far as your boss goes, learn to ignore as much as you can.
