Hello forum folk, having a continued issue with my ejuices. They are 70/30vg and I keep having an issue with the juice going dark in the tank and have to clean out the fowl tasting dark juice. Is this normal? I have been using an egoT2 with a 'clearomizer', changing the wick daily due to burnt juice on the wick.

What I notice is that the juice gets thick as this happens, is this the VG that seperates? I have tried different battery combinations so power doesnt seem to be an issue, in fact it seems to be a faster process when I use the original battery or anything battery that 'sags' quickly.

Out of 60ml at least 15ml gets wasted. I have tried to just use the darkened juice but it tastes like crap. I use tobacco flavors only...

Any thoughts on this? Is this an issue with bigger vape units? Appreciate any input..

the dark juice is normal it comes from the juice draining back down to the tank , i use 50/50 and it still does it . it will be more pronounced with a thinner juice and also if you vape the tank down to empty , picture your tank 3/4 empty and the juice has to run up the wicks when you tilt it to vape then afterwords is runs back down into the tank and makes it darker

Thats just it, I keep the tank topped up, and even tip upside down between draws. I get approx 1 and a half tanks then have to change the wick. Ive used about 20ft of silica string in 4-5 weeks.

So are you saying it is more of an issue with say 100% PG? I was thinking the opposite.. I tried a VG based juice and the first thing noticed was its viscosity and being prone to caramelizing on the string faster. Also the ratio of 'waste juice' is near the % of volume per bottle. Problem is, my main juice only comes in 70/30.

IME, I has more to do with the juice (flavorings) than the PV/VG ratio. I've had a couple of bought liquids that do this, while others can go tank after tank and only darken and thicken a bit. I have one juice called Blueberry Bluffin that is very bad to do this. It gets practically black after only one tank, and really thick. It also totally clogs the coil and turns the wick black and crusty. It's very tasty juice, but because of this I only use it very occasionally. I'm not saying this is 100% the reason, but for me it seems to happen more often with extracted natural flavorings rather than synthesized/purified molecules. It might be a difference of the amount of 'other stuff' that comes along with the flavorings in extracts (carbohydrates such as sugars and starches that carry over is what I suspect does it). The natural ones just often seem to contain more stuff that caramelizes onto the coil, making the juice turn thick and black. Some people suspect that it's the sweeteners that do this and that may have something to do with it. For my DIY I use a very small amount of sucralose (2ul/ml of ezsweetz) and they only darken a little.

Are all of your liquids from the same brand, or do you use several? Have you noticed any differences between different brands or liquids?

You hit a point there.. I quit smoking about 2 1/2 months ago so ive been using a juice that is reminiscent of my old brand. The one thing I notice in the flavor is caramel, so sugar would be a likely culprit. The only other flavor I have is green apple, but it seems to irritate my throat a bit so I dont use it much, but can say when I have, I dont seem to have the same issue. That could just be the lower frequency of use, so im not sure.

yes there are many factors that cause this thin juice is just one but it does vary from one juice to another whether the sweetness will cause it or even the device you use , i tend to use a genesis style tank and while flavor and vapor maybe great i do deal with the darkening of my juices on a daily bases and for me one of the main reasons is i vape the same flavor 4-5 days in a row b4 i go on to my next flavor so at times i have to rinse my tank by day two its just something ive learned to live with but i do know that when i used a vivi nova tank it seemed like it took a little longer to turn dark

if you bump the vg up on that green apple to 50/50 or even 40/60 it will be nicer to your throat

All the juices I get are 70/30 so far. It seems to be the flavor on the green apple, which is kinda strange considering I love sour candies.
When it comes to a good 'throat hit' that is what I seek for the most part. I was a heavy smoker, and the only thing keeping me away from the real cigg's is a good strong vape.

I think maybe my demand is too high on the smaller single coil after thinking about it. Must get to making my own, I think much of my issues will be solved this way.

From my experience when the wick starts to burn a little the discoloration spreads threw out the tank. You will notice your wicks getting darker. I fixed this with using organic cotton wicks and i change it every day to keep a clear and clean juice. I always see complicated responses to this question, but when i switch out the cotton wick every day it never darkens and there is no need to waste juice. I also have an assembly line of coils that i dry burn (this gets the crud off the coils), rinse with hot water, air dry, then cotton wick. A single coil can last me months and i use like 1 cotton ball every month.

I also wanted to add i use PG 65 / VG 35 juices which is close to what you use.

I do the same thing but use silica wick. The atty on mine are not rebuildable, so I dry burn off the crap then gently thread a new wick. I too noticed you can get a lot more use out of a single coil. I also use alcohol to soak the coil if there is a lot of debris in and around it.
