Hi All,

I am new to vaping nicotine, I have used vaps for other things but never ecigs. I have been wanting to give up tobacco for a while now and after two weeks of phasing out cigs I have now had a third full week on just ecigs. I started by buying a disposable then I got a starter kit but I found the mouthpiece was a bit silly. But the effects were good. Next I go some litejoy ecigs and I really liked them. so I am pretty much totally converted. After 20+ years of smoking after a week I have no real need to go back, there's no craving for "proper" smokes or anything. I do however have some questions, questions I have no doubt people have asked before so feel free top point me in the right direction.

1) these carts which the company says are non-reuseable can obviously be opened up and reloaded with liquid. Apart from eventually degrading is there anything inherently wrong with this?

2) I really like the idea of making my own vG and PG mixes but from the one liquid I have found so far I quite like the tobacco flavour, how is tobacco flavour made? Is it chemicals that make the flavour of rolling tobacco or different brands of tobacco? Is any real tobacco involved for flavour into the tincture? If so how many of the "other" chems come along.

3) Any tips for getting started or for getting the best eliquid/flavour? What's agreed on as good? I like a full flavour and a rich smoke

4) The batts for one company and its charger seem to work on another company. I like the ecigs that have the shape of real cigs is there a good company with good batts for that? Or are they all just the same (prob from China) and branded by companies. What's best to invest in?

Thanks a lot Paul

Hey Paul.
Check out this guy's guide, I read it over and over to get the basics, it is well written and funny. You are going to have all of your questions answered and have like 20 more =)

As far as the E-Juices, I would buy local if there is a manufaturer in Scotland and support your kinsman. I am a newb though so take this with a grain of salt.

Probably not a thing wrong. If they're using cartomizers, nothing spectacular going on in there. There's an absorbent, cottony looking filler with a tube running through the middle and a small heater coil at the bottom. Here's on example of filling a carto:

How to fill a cartomizer - (soft top) - YouTube

And there are many, many others on YouTube. Just search for "filling cartomizers" and you'll find tons of videos explaining it.

Not to mention, you can buy "blank" (that is, never filled) cartos and fill them. The question would be what works with the batteries you have. I'm not familiar with the brand myself.

Well, liquids and taste are very subjective, it's hard to say. It's one of those things you have to experiment with and see what you like. I can say folks find that more VG in a juice tends to produce more vapor while more PG tends toward bringing out flavor and "throat hit". I like vapor myself and ended up landing on a 50/50 mix most times. But there's just no predicting what someone will or will not like.

If you can find a vapor shop nearby that lets you try juices out, that's ideal. If not, ordering "sample packs" can help you try out different flavors and nicotine strengths and base liquid mixes.

4) The batts for one company and its charger seem to work on another company. I like the ecigs that have the shape of real cigs is there a good company with good batts for that? Or are they all just the same (prob from China) and branded by companies. What's best to invest in?

Well, now, there you have to be careful. Not everything is compatible. Not at all. There are some standards and compatible threadings but also a lot of variation. And lithium batteries get touchy if you abuse them. You can't just swap any battery with any charger. That could be trouble.

first thing you need to do is decide if this is a passing thing, or if you plan on continuing to vape for a good while.
if you do, then get a good setup now instead of later, you'll save some bucks.
bigger batteries allow you to run higher voltage, and last longer on a charge.
also basically used for a bigger mod.
flavor is kinda a drink from a soda fountain, they add flavoring to it, sweetner, nicotine.
find somewhere close to you and test fire different ones.
mix 2 together. who knows what you will like.
